Never use startrite bikes. They used to be called Viva moto or something & there have been numerous threads over on BCF with regards to them selling vehicles which are unfit for purpose & generally ripping people off. A customer from Sweden is still having difficulty obtaining a refund from them & is having to pursue it through legal means.

My 400 was a 12 plate, got a £3000 trade in and they are selling it on for £4000. The 400 is a big seller in Australia and SYM Australia put out guidance saying to service by distance rather than time making use of the service light. So I never had the belt changed annually and had no problems. I make no bones about being a SYM fan loved for 400 and my 600 is amazing.

It may be advertised with an asking price of four grand, but it will not sell at that price.

12000 I should think it needs to be checked for damage but changing every 12 months regardless of milage, I don't think do. Others on here with more experience may think differently

i would not change yearly, what a waste of a good belt... i personally would check at 6000 miles then 9000 miles just to keep an eye on it for cracks appearing, its harder to check on the scoot as taught, but you need to bend it tp see hidden cracks that are appearing ... if you only do 4000 a year then thats 2 years before you need to check, but if you are a diy guy then you can at least take cover off to have a ganders when ever you feel the need, on the maxi scoots the front of the tranny cover is usually into the plastics at the front and just take a bit longer to take off :D
I cant seem to remember.. I don't know where I'm going, but I'm on my way.
