Its same with what I've got now, I replaced the XEvo with a low mileage 2012 Aprilia SR Max, it had done 3090 miles in around 18 months with its previous owner. Before the end of this month I'll have gone through the 10000 mile barrier, so i'm covering 850-900 miles per month commuting.
Cheek! Northerners indeed.

As a confirmed southerner I can tell you that some of us do move around a bit too. My commute is 54 miles a day so I generally do 11k miles a year. And I have done that on the last 5 scooters, all Peugeots, which I kept for at least 2 years each.

And the 400 and 600 come with a three year warranty in Europe (four years in Australia). If you look up reviews on the SYM quad bike, there are some small issues with it but none with reference to the engine which is deemed a solid unit.

The thing here is that quad bike engines are designed for a tough life.. So your engine should be good to go for a long long time.....:D

Pfft!! that's nothing. When I was working for Mclaren I put 24000miles on my nexus in 7 months, sometimes 980mile a week. I'm a southerner too although I fail to see the relevance.

I have to say I'm not impressed with the new MaxSym 600i. Although outwardly a very nice bike to look at & with some nice features why oh why have they tuned it to produce as little as 40bhp with a kerb weight of 237kgs, that's absolutely ridiculous & I should imagine there'll be no performance increase over the 400 with exception to torque. When will manufacturers realise that they need to scrub weight off from these bikes & I'm sorry but a 600cc producing a measly 40hp that's pathetic!

I don't know whether the Maxi 600 is any good or not. I could cruise all day at 80mph on my Silverwing(as they do in the USA). I think i could do the same on the Burgman 650. The Sym is an unknown quantity as yet, and if iam spending my money, i want to be reasonably sure the thing i buy is going to do the job i want. Some people in othe countries have advised me not to buy the Sym, after thier experiances with them. I will go with what I believe is the best investment for ME, that's all any of us can do really. :)

Well I've owned my GTS 250i from brand new since 2008. I've covered 22500miles on it and the only thing thats failed was the underseat light switch through use and the brake switches wore out after years of being exposed to all kinds of weather. Never once though have I been stranded in the six years of ownership.

SYM aren't perfect, the service intervals are not as good as others, the manuals are basic and the UK importer isn't the best (slow to respond, incorrect info in brochures/website). But to say the actual product is crap is not at all fair or accurate. My brother who's sixteen has a 9 month old yamaha neos, its caked in rust a lot quicker than any of my SYM's have. I've seen a few Piaggios with rust problems as well so the rust attack won't be fair either.

SYM do get unfair flak on here. The Maxsym 600 seems to be gettting a lot of hate and inaccurate specs are being spouted on here now as well. We've had attacks on it's mpg, though it turns out is no worse than the other same capacity scooters. Now we've got people stating its got lower hp than it actually has. It's a 565cc single, the Honda is a 580 twin so of course it will be less powerful. Another similar cc rivallary I can think of would be the Gilera Nexus 500 vs Tmax mk2 each had advantages/cons other each other.

Also the 565 motor SYM are using they've had for years in a Quad bike, the quadraider 600. They've actually upped its HP from 20hp to 46hp. I suppose for quadbikes they need the torque (pull/acceleration) rather than hp (top speed). So its a known design and you never know, SYM may produce a whole new purpose built 600cc scooter engine within the next few years...
