Some big coaches have cheaper road tax than cars.

Time to scrap road tax all together and put a few pence on petrol? I know this has been debated many times (my late Father used to go on about this years ago in the 70's), but it would save all taxpayers a small fortune in admin and forms, discs etc. And the more you use the roads, the more you pay - with an automatic premium for large and/or thirsty vehicles.

+1 makes perfect sense which is why it wont happen......

The actual disc is already being scrapped... plan for destruction is October currently then you can throw away the paper disc and the holder as it will all be electronic.

Yeah but the requirement to pay it is still there along with all the admin costs to keep records and chase owners.

Extra money on makes perfect sense as a way to encourage less driving of all vehicles and the most polluting and highest milage drivers automatically get taxed the most.

Ooh yes, thanks Funkycowie I'd forgotten about that - recently paid five earth stirling for a holder too :cry: and the paper disc spins around inside it...

larry have you not seen all the tax disk holders on ebay were £15 now £3 going for peanuts :lol: :kiss:

Hmmm, might retain my holder and put something else inside it - any ideas?
