Gerard, congrats on getting the bike. Yes, they do thrive on revs with standard rollers, but they are not stressed and need to rev in order to run efficiently. Redline should be 8950rpm on yours. Earlier models k7 to k8 were 8500rpm Max. Some early k9's may also be 8500rpm. With standard rollers you should be turning 5750 to 5800rpm at indicated 60mph on the flat. 70 indicated should settle on the flat at around 6750 to 7000...ish! O-60mph is very reasonable at 7.7 to 7.9 secs. Take a handful of throttle away from the lights and it really goes. You can take on the traffic if you need to. If you decide to go for Dr Pulleys , would suggest you don't slow the revs too much in the cruise. It increases compressive wear and fuel savings are marginal to zero. As said, they love to rev and if left to do so will last and last giving very reliable service. You soon get used to the higher revving nature of the engine. All normal. Cheers for now.

PS. I doubt your belt or rollers needs changing. Suzi recommends changing belt at 14500 but you can usually go a bit more if you need to.

Thanks Data, the Bike has 17,500 on it. So probably needs a belt then? From memory it was revving about 6,500 to 7,000 -ish in the very short period I got it to 70mph. (Illegal back road ride just to see).

When I changed my belt (with a Gates branded) and rollers on my K8 the revs dropped by about 1000 rpm doing an indicated 70 mph and the rythmic noise I was experiencing at 55+ disappeared.
