Re: KMH and MPH speedos
mt j300 as we know is kph and inner mph, it would be nice if other way round, and an inlay would be easy to produce.. just been out for first ride in the dark to pick my son up, the blue backlight is good, with inlays of dials show up great, and i didnt know the dial pointers are lit up in white, so was easy to read. so not an issue to read but thought from the makers for uk would be nice.
I cant seem to remember.. I don't know where I'm going, but I'm on my way.

Re: KMH and MPH speedos
Having an SYM I of course have the KMH speedo with tiny mph readings. Though slightly annoying I have learnt to
convert kmh to mph. So now when I look at my speedo I see 100kmh for example but think 60mph.
80kmh-50mph and so on.
The US ones have to be mph by law I believe and as they have to have the indicators at a certain distance many models
have lolliops instead of in the body indicators. So I guess they change the dash as they also have to do the indicators as well to sell them in the US.
Personally it wouldn't prevent me buying a vehicle though as I mentioned I've learnt to convert kmh to mph. Though it would be nice to have a 'proper' mph speedo...

Re: KMH and MPH speedos
I will not buy:
Analogue with larger scale in kph
Mix of analogue and digital display e.g. analogue rev counter with digital speedo

Not a chance of me buying a KPH speedo'd bike, if they can not be arsed to provide the correct thing for the country they want to sell in....then i can't be arsed to even look at the machines...i would by chinese first if they offered a MPH and take the risk of it falling apart in the rain

Re: KMH and MPH speedos
I put Yellow stickers at 30, 40 & 50 mph on the Xevo 400ie I had, rather than try to convert or read the speedometer.
I don't spend or want to spend much time looking at the speedo, a quick glance is all it should take.
Like a quick glance at my watch tells me the time, I don't need the actual numbers just the relevant markers.

Re: KMH and MPH speedos
I think an easy option for manufacturers would be to make them all digital then you can easily choose with the push of a button mph-kph, my hexagon had Kph and i found this annoying

Re: KMH and MPH speedos
What surprised me was when I saw the SYM video showing the Citycom with a MPH and even the LCD mileage display was in miles.
So SYM obviously produce machines with MPH clocks, but not for the Uk...
This is a complete nonsense and comes squarely back to the importer MotoGB, who should insist on proper MPH speedos.

Re: KMH and MPH speedos
i find it a pain, some have clearer dials than others. my X9 was terrible especially at night . my sym was ok although did find it curious as to why no mph as the do it for the usa market. an my X10 is fairly clear so not a huge problem ....would be nicer if it was the right way round for this country.
Good friends don't let you do stupids thing alone .

Digital isn't as good as analogue imo.Hanzo1974 wrote:I think an easy option for manufacturers would be to make them all digital
Ideally a modern instrument panel would be a glass screen computery thingumabob running open source software and fully customisable by the user.
