Get that Burger traded for a (8000 mile service) Forza and all you'll need to do is ride it and fuel it.

Or you could buy my pcx just a thought.

But cars are money pits as well...they do tend to be more reliable, but when they go wrong, they are expensive. Plus tax and insurance....And anyway, driving a car is so tedious as you are always - at best - stuck behind someone driving painfully slowly, seemingly half the time stuck in queues you can't filter round. Of course, they are handy things to carry lots of things around and in bad weather.

You could always buy a small cheap 125 scoot as backup - much cheaper than buying cars and insurance. In theory, at least one of your scoots should be in operation at any one time.....though in my case I've had them both go on the blink at the same time!!!

There's never been a time when I haven't had a scooter. 40 + years or so.
But I like to have a car as well cos it's just convenient! I've never commuted on 2 wheels though as I mostly had live in jobs.
I do tend to have older, cheap cars and newer scooters now. It was the opposite when I was younger.
But I need 2 wheels!! It keeps me sane.

Regarding insuring 2 scoots. When I added the 13 reg mk4 Tmax with my existing mk2 insurance, last November, it was just under £10 extra. My insurance had 4 months to go. Dirt cheap really.
On renewal, I got caught out as I forgot about it and had to renew in a panic on deadline day,, as I was out on a meet the next day.
It was £240 with ebike for the 2 x Tmax. This does include UK and Euro breakdown.
I'll definitely shop round next time.

And the strange thing is, I thought that by saying the mk4 is garaged,, it would help things but it doesn't.. Extra excess is payable

If you are easily tempted just get a TMax

My first bike was a honda ps125i and that was ultra reliable, but i have always wanted a maxi scooter so i brought my current bike a piaggio x9 125.
I have had nothing but problems with it, and within the first 2 months of owning it , it was only ridable for about 3 weeks, but i have found that the more work i do on it bringing it up to a good standard the more i love it, and the more i enjoy riding it.

I am like you my bike is my transport but as a family we own a mini bus so we are not stuck like you. What i would do is what i am currently thinking about now, just buying a 2nd bike probably another maxi so i will always have 1 which is ridable whilst the other is having work done.
