I have had two T-Max a MK1 and MK3 both belting bikes in all that has been said above, i have also had three big Burgers.
The first was a standard 650 the other two were Exec's i did 1000's of Euro miles on them and loved them, if i was still
a young gun i would have another T-Max but i'm not so go for the cumfy ride. Only reason i have the Honda is SWMBO
found the Burger back seat too wide for her diddy legs. T-Max is sporty and Burger is the tourer.

Go to your local Yam dealer give him two weeks to arrange a test ride on a MK3 and a MK4
If he can't do it tell him to fook off. Make sure your taking to the manager and not a salesman
or oily rag. You'll be paying £1200 for a MK4 over a MK3 and in my opinion £1200 for a set of false
eyelashes.

Like everyone is saying it is what you want to do with your Maxiscooter. Burgman looks good for touring as what i have read about them and the Tmax i would say is more sports with less storage than the Burgman. But it is up to what you want it for. 8-)

Exactly the same - same bike. Remarkably the same as the mk1 & 2 despite being completely different bikes!

I dunno, people say take the Burger for comfort, but I'm not sure it was that much more comfortable than the Tmax. And the mk4 is the most comfortable of all the Tmaxs. Compared to the Bev 350 it feels like a luxury limo!

And the other aspect is the Burger's huge weight which can be slightly awkward.

Good point MrGrumpy is the weight of the Burgman to the Tmax. Something to think about if only going short rides.

But it isn't the old style 650 Burgman that the OP is interested in, it's the new 2013 model.
But I don't think they are that different. There have been some improvements, but the fundamentals haven't changed at all. And Yes, it was a real swine to clean!!!!!

That's my thought too but after some research I did online I realised there is more than meets the eye  (Thanks to google for translating and you know who to blame if some sentences don't make sense)

Reduced friction inside CVT which improves fuel efficiency by 15%
Image

New valve springs, better bearings, low-friction piston rim, better clutch material, etc. - better engine response and power delivery
Image

New fuel injectors, new ECU maping and adjusted firing timing, plus low-ratio final drive for better mileage when cruising
Image

Improved CVT module - less time for gear shifting and more responsive
Image

New ABS control unit - smaller and 55% lighter; floating brake discs fitted
Image

Improved suspension - firmer and better dampening
Image

Other improvements include:
* reduced engine-braking (it was much stronger when compared with other maxi scoots)
* wheelbase is shortened by 1cm; not much on the book but claimed to make the bike more agile
* much more stable around corners

The keynotes are "borrowed" from a Taiwanese bike forum (Jorsindo.com). One of the forum admins is an owner of an old burgie with more than 27,000 km (17k miles) on the clock. He was disappointed by the "obvious" upgrades when the news about the new model hit the pubic but after been invited to JP for test ride, he said "I can't wait to upgrade to the new model".

The dreaded off-throttle engine braking on the older model Burgman that almost put you THROUGH the windscreen is gone and much smoother. Currently in France, the Big Burger, with an upgraded tighter front and rear end look and under the skin adjustments to an already PROVEN platform, is outselling the much-touted BMW C650 TWO to ONE. (Then again, the Big Burger doesn't have 20+ and COUNTING major problems/flaws with a new product roll-out. As one guy on the US BMW Scooter Forum put it, "We are BMWs BETA TESTERS...)

If it's cruising you want, it's BURGMAN you need. Then again, if there's TWISTIES, it's Tmax. That's why my brother SOLD his Burgman 650 and bought a Tmax...

Meldrew..

I'd quite forgotten you know all about the Silver Wing based on having a go on one once a few years ago.

It's like saying a TMax handles like a sports bike when you have an Auto only licence, how would you know that? :|
well i have ridden sports bikes( cbr 600's zzr600's ,gsxr 750, fireblade )even my 350ypvs handled better than the wing.so iv'e owned a tmax and a silverwing..the t-max does handle like a bike, as it should with full lenght front forks an a swing arm .as opposed to the whole engine bouncing up an down...an as for the silverwing. worst scoot iv'e every owned..straight line fine . go anywhere near something resembling a corner quickly, an it tie's itself in flipping knots...mine tried to kill me several times...if your slow it'll be ok . but don't go quick...i was glad to sell mine...
Good friends don't let you do stupids thing alone .
