Jeremy asked me a question to which I gave an answer. Jeremy seemed ok with this, with regard to his particular cicumstances outlined in his reply to me. I have been riding my Sym for the last 2000 miles, and I have not left the stand down once. As the saying goes...You should try every thing once,except incest and country dancing.

I know you haven't forgotten yet: you are here posting instead of in a coma or a coffin.
I'm old enough to remember motorbike accidents before sidestands were made safe (by springs and switches).
I recommend you buy good health insurance and make a will if you use a suicide sidestand.

I passed my test in 1960,I am 72 years old,I have owned at least 70 bikes and scooters,I have never had an insuance claim. If you are so concerned with safety and self preservation,then you should stay indoors (mind the stairs). I now consider this subject closed ,and I will not open further posts on this subject. Ride safe.
