Pikey, It's the Crinan canal, Lochgilphead is the other end of it, cuts off Kintyre for boats.

Britains most beautiful short cut it says good enough for me road runs along side it .If make Oban lunch stop cheap fuel there at Tesco works for me

Lyn, Very kind of you, that could be a good idea, please don't put your self out, I often have to sleep downstairs with the dogs at the moment, my Labrador is nearly 14 years old and we get problems with her. So if you could knock up a kennel, it will be home from home.
BTW, I've sold the NC, and got a Deauville, but if we get heavy rain forecast, I could put my old CB250 in the back of the Berlingo and use that.
Looking forward to meeting a fellow, gods poor orphan. We could educate the others on OH, as we ride along. Bet you still look up.
Thank Pat for me,
Regards,
Dave
P.S. Booked in at the 3 D's.

Will you wear it inside out coming back?
I need to get one. Just about anywhere's north from where I am!

The Crinan canal stirred a memory. The "Para Handy" stories were about the "Vital Spark", a Clyde puffer. These tiny steamboats were like those vans that used to tour housing estates selling anything and everything. They took coal, cement, groceries and mail to the Western Isles and wee villages without road access. They would simply sail up onto the beach if there was no harbour. Here's the late John Grieve, who played the "ship"s engineer/cook who hated the sea!
