Or a good eye - Cornishmen are reputed to be able to spot an ounce of tin 50 meters away in pitch blackness with just a Davey Lamp! ;)

Yep it is, according to Scootering magazine 6 litres of storage has been sacrificed to help keep it slimmer. The review also states "revised valve spring tension, low torque bearings, more efficient piston rings, reduced injector size, new clutch plates and a remapped ECU, all of which gives a 15% improvement on fuel consumption whilst offering a smoother low speed ride. Now has a shorter wheel base too and less fork trail to give beeter handling.

Hi and thanks for all your comments.

Not done anything with the Burgman yet, been rearranging the garage so I can get the car and bike in easier. This has worked out very well, can now get the bike and car in with room to walk around both so happy there. :D

Again thanks for the comments on my photos, the camera used was a Nikon D700, this is the Camera I use for my other hobby photography and as mentioned a good Cornish eye.

Not been out on the bike since getting it, but I did notice a couple of things - it is much easier to move around than my old one and the storage under the seat is smaller. You now have to position the two helmets so you can close the seat down without it touching one of them. I do like the new dash, the old one was ok but did look a bit dated. The more I look at the matt gray the more I like it, so pleased I went with this.icon_thumbs_up.gif

That’s about it for now, I will update you when I go for my first proper ride this week sometime.

Going by their previous journalistic efforts on anything that isn't actually a sportsbike, I can't imagine that Ride will have anything to say that is in anyway worth reading about DCTs..

I test rode the new 2013 Burgman 650 Executive on Saturday at Tillsons of Stockton on a rare beautiful UK sunny day.
Sadly though I was not overly impressed with the improvements.
The main disappointment area is the engine management. In Drive mode at 30mph it is laboring badly and the mid range acceleration is not as responsive.
With the laboring, it's in too high a gear ratio. At 30 and on changing to manual the gear indicator shows 4th, so presumably it's in 5th in D mode as 'traditionally' it drops one gear on this process.
This is all to do with the new so called Eco mode. I think they have now gone ott with this, in their pursuit to achieve better mpg. The Green Eco light was at first also annoying, as it flashes on and off and you think you have left a directional indicator on.
The new dash with dials will eventually get used to as will the handbrake on the left side of the seat.
As reported, Its move-ability drag has now gratefully improved as I easily 'tippy toed' it backwards into its parking slot.
I like how the exhaust is now parallel with the bodywork plastics.
The rear is slimmer but obviously could not fully test the rear passenger comfort seat width or the slightly raised foot boards by 10mm but is a welcome improvement alas to the sacrifice of storage space down from 56l to 50l.
The 12v power outlet is now much further back in the lockable glove box allowing long style chargers to be added, however there is still no provision for a sat nav charger cable to easily be threaded through the door seals.
The throttle heat grip now has been correctly positioned from the factory with the power cable towards the top so now your right hand palm is kept warm (I had to manually rotate mine, these grips are not 360° heated and must only have one heat strip?)
Overall this new 2013 model is good with a few engine management niggles but for an existing 2011 L1 model owner I can not justify a change, especially now with an out the door price of £8930.

Interesting...thanks! It doesn't sound much of an improvement. I found that the drag at rest on the original model was only a problem when it was stone cold. When warm, it wasn't a problem....though the humungous weight didn't help.
I wonder if they've fixed that wretched switch that was supposed to detect the centre-stand down and restricting it to 1st gear?? That was always sticking meaning I had to grovel under the bike to free it. Very executive....
