Well I used to own just the one scoot at a time. A 50cc, 125cc passed test got on, got my current SYM GTS 250.
I bought a Malaguti madison 400 (it was cheap and quite tatty) as a second scoot and I didn't like it,
I missed my 250 and whenever got home i'd always wish I took the GTS instead. The Madison did
get looks off every motorcyclist that came by though (one of the best looking Maxi's in my opion)!
Sold that and a year later I bought a Honda C90. That was a great little bike, but it was slow and I
kept getting cut up by cars - so I sold it (wish I hadn't though, it was a great bike in town/country lanes).
I then bought a SYM tonik 125 new - I loved it's styling but it topped out at 50mph, cars kept cutting me up and
it's tiny 10 90/90 wheels made it very fidgety at 50mph! Sold that and now back to just my GTS 250.
Personally i'd have a 125cc 'ordinary' scooter - auto or trad for town use/short journeys on quiet A-roads and a 250cc+ Maxi for longer journeys or for use on busier A-roads/dual carriageways/m-ways. The cc of the maxi depends on what you want cost & performance wise.
I also only have a auto bike license, so i'm very reliant on my scooter for transport to work and shopping. So a second bike will at least give me a back up if one fails.
Do I sell 3 scooters and just buy one ?

Handy to have a back up as Drago says.

I am a one bike gal! I tried two but I kept playing favorites and found the exy shiney new street triple R just got left at home as the most expensive ornament I have ever owned. I had to confess my love of my T-max. And sold the striple off after only 12 months!

Re: Do I sell 3 scooters and just buy one ?
Only ever had one scoot at any time but did used to have 3 bikes, V-Max, Sabre and a Bandit. The V-Max was being restored after being written off by a piss stained myopic pensioner, the Sabre was my commuter as it was bit tatty and the Bandit was back road blaster. When the arthritis kicked in I sold the bandit and Sabre and bought a 500 SL X9 that did everything the 3 bikes would do so eventually sold the V-Max too (Loved that bike).
Conclusion: 1 maxi scoot will do the job.

Re: Do I sell 3 scooters and just buy one ?
Thanks for all the advice and feedback folks
I think initially I will sell the LML 2 stroke and the Foresight which should raise me about £2000 when the trad rally season gets going and when the spring weather finally arrives
The 4t LML is a 150 and is a bit faster than the 2 stroke ( 60mph top end and it does about 110mpg ) obviously it doesnt need constant topping up with expensive 2t oil either.
Deep down I know that if I sold both LML's I would regret it and soon be looking for another one
£2000 should get me a decent used SYM 250 or a Piaggio X8 400 if I buy privately & as I'v owned both in the past I know I will like them.
I test rode a SH 300 once and loved the handling and performance but was a bit cramped on it being 6ft 2" and being honest I dont really like the styling of the big wheeled scooters ( thanks for the suggestion though )

I had one of the first SYM 250's on an 07 plate with the carb'd engine & loved it apart from the mirrors were useless ( sorted with some cheap blindspot stick on ones ) and the screen was a bit noisy ( again a cheapish fix with a genuine Sym higher one fitted ) but you can say that about most scooters in my experience.phantom309 wrote:well i have the sym gts300.an love it..had it a year now ,so thats must say something for it...an my back up is a suzuki (car)....lol
I only sold it as I needed some cash in a hurry for household repairs and felt gutted as I watched it being loaded into a van and then driven off to its new owner 300 miles away in Newcastle

Re: Do I sell 3 scooters and just buy one ?
Well I have a SYM GTS 250 2008 the injected model. It's nearly five years old now and so far the only
thing that failed is a £20 switch for the underseat light. SYM's tend not to hold their value to well and
a low mileage injected 250 will cost less than £2000, even from a Dealer!
I know you mentioned not liking big wheeled scoots but the SYM Citycom 300 (263) can also be had for under £2000 and
though not as powerful as the SH300i it does have better storage and I believe it isn't as cramped as the SH300
either.

Re: Do I sell 3 scooters and just buy one ?
I have considered the Citicom and a dealer near me in Rugby ( who I bought the Foresight from ) has a mint very low mileage one for sale so I might go over for a look and a spin, if they will let me
