Hallelujah and congratulations indeed!!!
Firstly, I think the 4000 rpm running in limit is impractical and border line dangerous if you have any dual carriageways to travel on. When I had a new Tmax I just rode it fairly gently - it seemed happy and unstressed at 5500 rpm (giving you 75 mph or so) so I stuck to that.
Now I want to hear all about your impressions of it, especially about how it compares to previous TMaxs!!!! The lord is tempting me along a similar path.....

Congratulations on thy good fortune, worry not for your last TMax which will surely find a new caring master.
May your new steed serve you well into the future and bestow many smiles to go with the miles.

Forget that 4000 revs nonsense and ride it normally. No need to take it too easy after the initial ride if everything seems OK. Just avoid long durations of constant revs, keep speed and revs varying a little but give it some throttle on acceleration, don't be too gentle.
The stuff in the handbook is common text used for all bikes in the range and for the sports bikes with high revving engines it is more important to be restrained, but it's less important on a CVT transmission scooter where you cannot over rev it.

Re: TMAX 530 - and so it came to pass..........
Thank you brothers and sisters for your encouraging comments.
Here sayeth the next lesson when comparison be drawn to fondly considered previous mk 3 model, although the hour for consideration is yet young and the impression be initial.
Book of Doom: To help brother DougL get his obsession under control, yes there is a whine from the transmission at about 30mph usually on the over-run, it's not obtrusive and I've not had a belt drive before so I don't know if it's normal or indeed will subside as the bike gets run in. I noticed it about 1 mile from the shop, but today after 200 miles it's much less, so I suspect it's thy belt bedding in. The mirrors are the work of the devil and useful only to check that small birds are not nesting in the sleeves of thy garments. Looses a bit of storage space in the fairing boxes, but the right hand one is now lockable.
Book of Provenance: The good Lord has blessed the machine in many ways. Slimness of being - front end narrower from the seat, with less turbulence from the now adjustable screen. Rear fairings slimmer which should allow Lady Jedburgh a more dignified posture. Lightness of being - feels lighter although only by 4kilo's apparently. Handling - approached corners with customary T-Max vivacity, seems a bit more front end biased and sharper. Brakes - about the same, excellent stopping power, no ABS but I'm not too fussed about that. Engine - Too early to say but more urge at lower revs noticeable also sounds more throaty. Instruments - nice new clock set with more info, MPG, Air Temp and I used to leave my indicators on a lot on the Mk3 but not now. The new 50L top box is a big improvement, better locking mechanism and carry handle. Style - Looks much more focused and sharper, aggressive front end, R1 style back end, lightweight bronze wheels and conventional swing arm arrangement. Many favourable comments from the as yet unconverted.
I consider Yamaha have succeeded in keeping the character and undoubted qualities of the T-Max, but made improvements where they were desireable, more torque, less weight, sharper styling.

....except for the mirrors though! I really thought the mirrors on the mk3 were a minor work of art - small and stylish, yet gave you a superb view. Glad you are liking it so far - keep the mk3 comparisons coming if you will. As a mk3 owner considering a similar 'conversion' I am keen to establish whether the mk4 is a useful step up from the mk3.Jedburgh wrote: I consider Yamaha have succeeded in keeping the character and undoubted qualities of the T-Max, but made improvements where they were desireable, more torque, less weight, sharper styling.

Lady Jedburgh has now been on the back and her comment was "Ooooh that's better". My decision is vindicated!
