Mine was the first into the country on the road, and I have had a couple of minor blips, but not enough for me to sell it yet.
There have been a couple sold second hand this year and I can't quite understand why. Other than trading it up to somethign more powerful, I can't see what it does that there is a better alternative for.
However, good though I think it is, I honestly couldn't see me trading a Burgman for one, unless it was very old and I got a good trade in for it.
The mind boggles really, but from where I am sitting, I wouldn't be at all surprised if Masco didn't pull the plug on the DT300, (especially now they have the 125 version here). They certainly dumped the Like200, which was a really nice piece of kit.

If I remember correctly there was the rear caliper thing when you first got it and more recently a non-starting issue related to the brake light switches, anything else?
(I ask because I'm considering trading the PCX for one sometime next year)

Well it didn't turn out to be the rear caliper in the end, it was a port physically missing in the master cyclinder. Anyway the dealer drilled it out and hey presto, no more problems on that score. They have since replaced the unit at the behest of Masco, as a matter of caution.
The recent non starter turned out to be something of a mystery. The direct reason was that the rear light bulb wasn't lit, but the bulb was OK and 12 volts was appearing at the fitting, (with zero current though). He changed both microswitches in the handlebars and, again, hey presto, job jobbed, so it looked like an earth fault in there, but I don't think he ever really found out. He did hint that they weren't very good micros so it may just be shoddy bits.
To be honest, I would expect zero faults in 2 years so a little disapointed, but only time will tell if more are to come.
Go and sit on it by all measn, but you might find it a bit big after the PCX.

Bigger is what I want, since I bought the PCX my circumstances have changed.
I now need something for a 27 mile dual carriageway commute and the PCX does the job but not comfortably.
Change time is a fair bit away yet, the current shortlist is the new Sym GTS, the Downtown, the X-Max and the X10.

There doesn't seem to be any intrisic faults with the Downtown so I don't think anyone has to worry about quality or reliability with the Kymco's. I'm disappointed they are not going to bring the 700i into the country. From what I've read so far, it's a very good machine without any long term ownership worries. It's been out and about abroad for a couple of years now and is tried and tested. Never mind...

If I was looking for an intercontinental tourer, it would be a toss up between the MyRoad and a Silverwing.

Don't forget that SYM are currently launching the new GTS 300 at the moment, I believe it'll be
here next year. Spec wise it's pretty similar to the Downtown and unlike the current GTS
EVO 300 it'll have 29hp instead of 23.5hp.
It'll probably be my next scooter.
