You must have had top box and panniers to carry a ton, did it affect the handling much?
Soon it will be heavy goods bikes, bet that will put up the road tax.

That would be telling Deeping! Actually, if I'm about to go a bit too fast, I use metaphasic particles to go into sub space. That way I can't get caught for speeding...it's just then I do have problems telling what's real and what isn't! 
Got a bit of a surprise though today. Found out that at 80mph indicated, I'm actually doing a genuine as near as damit gps 75mph. That's more accurate than I had on the Vstrom. So at 80 indicatetd, I don't even show up on the register of concern. Great!

Is this true, speedos may be manufactured up to 10% out, so if you have an accurate speedo you can now do 77mph.
The law will also give you 4mph to cover their inaccurate measurements so we are now up to 81mph If you know you have an accurate speedo (sat nav) then it should be safe to do 80mph with confidence, any thoughts?

It's funny you mention speedo's being out, I used to see 85/90mph indicated on my Nexus but it wasn't as fast as it seems at 85/90mph on my Mana, does that make sense the more I read it the more it seems weird lol

Yes Deeping. My cousin was a traffic cop with the Essex force and he tells me they are not interested in people cruising safely at 80mph. They cannot get a speeding conviction purely for doing 80mph. To get a conviction they would have to see you driving dangerously, or have a defective car then you get the book thrown at you and get done for the excess speed too! It might be different if you go through a camera though. I don't actually know how much they allow you over 77mph. It does vary from force to force. For example, my lil sis got caught on camera for doing 36 in a 30 limit. That was in Suffolk. They allow you 30mph plus 10% plus 2mph which is 35mph. At that speed you are still ok even if caught on camera at that speed. But if it's 36mph, then you get done. I think that is pretty good. In Essex they are not quite so generous I believe although I don't know what the actual figures are. Also police forces change their policy on this from time to time so beware. Anyhoo...I don't speed as such on the Burgman. It's not worth the stress. I need my licence.

Sorry buddy I forgot you were still laid up glad nothing happened with the nail in the tyre though matey. As you know im fairly new to scoots but everytime I park up at home & work I still cant get over how well they handle. Im remembering my dads trusty old Honda C70 bogseat which would pogo all over the road. I still have very fond memories of it though and out cornering my mate on his C90 who took the same bend as I did at the same velocity but was not as successful. I remember looking in my mirror and seeing his headlight spinning round as he came off. He was never very lucky on bikes though as he wrote another bike off when a cat ran through his front wheel locking it up and chucking him down the road. I haven't been able to ride hardly at all due to this knee injury, but I've just started again on a more regular basis now the knee is healing. But...today off I went on my 50 mile run. Like you, had a brilliant time. When I got home I parked up and notice a blue spot on my rear tyre. Inspected it to find a bloody great 120mm nail had been driven into the rear tyre at an acute angle. Ultraseal in the tyre had done it's job and prevented a slow puncture, but due to the extent of the damage, it failed to seal the hole when I pulled it out. It seems to have ripped through the bands inside the tyre sideways distorting the area massively around the hole. I reckon I rode for at least 20 miles with it in judging by the amount of wear on the head of the nail. I was tanking along too with speeds upto 80mph on the bits of road that were private! I'm amazed it didn't come out on it's own, but the angle it went in prevented it from doing so I guess. Anyway, just ordered a new tyre, the damage is too severe to have a repair. I'll let my local dealer actually change the tyre but I'll take him the wheel. I ordered a new exhaust gasket too just in case. Keep having fun on the Gilera...
