Bit strong there Irev I was only asking a question if I remember you jumped all over me for asking a question about tyres too. I assumed this was a forum where you could just post topics for discussion rather than get shot down in flames for doing so. Not that I need to qualify anything but if I do say so myself I am a relatively competent rider not the best but certainly not the worst and I have completed the IAM course. I do admit to being a bit of a novice on an automatic scooter though but I am enjoying the experience and enjoying joining in what seems like a smashing bunch of people.

Oh dear. I have 2 brake levers but only ever use one. Linked, power-assisted, you see. All this front or rear trail-braking stuff is a bit too tricky. I just pull the lever on the left until I'm happy and just let the bike sort itself out.

Well yeah im pretty happy too in that I seem to be able to brake when I need to & sometimes I let engine braking do the work and then I dont need to use the brakes at all. Interesting discussion though so far people thanks.

Mac, gotta say that ST200 looks sweet. I bet it handles beautifully and you could stop on a sixpence...oh, do we have those anymore? I never see money these days. It's all plastic or bank transfers. One thing and slightly off topic but what sort of revs is she doing at 60mph? :geek:

Cheers Data yes it handles really well surprisingly planted and stable for what is a relatively small machine the wheel size & width make a big difference. I will get back to you on the revs buddy admittedly I dont look very often but its pretty smooth.

Veering off at a tangent....linked brakes. I never see the point as I use both levers together anyway! Does anyone else actually find them useful, or even notice the difference???

Linked brakes - Had them on the S-Wing

Wasn't really noticeable and I think it was only that the rear brake activated half the front brake pistons.
I much prefer not to have it and to make the front/rear decision for myself

Maybe it makes a difference for a casual user in a panic situa\ation? I don't know

Difficult for me to compare, as I have had only linked-brake scoots for the last 10years.

On mine the right hand lever operates the front brake but does not give as much power and does not activate the ABS.

But I've had no problem with cornering balance or low speed stability.
