i agree they shouldnt have to pay out on accesories that were not mentioned but to void insurace because of it is mad

I agree.
I never came across anything like that but it was all a long time ago and things change.
Sometimes a nutter messes things up for everybody by screwing a garden shed to the back of their bike and the insurer gets stung, so now they want to know if it is a proper top box- but who knows.

I wasn't trying to defend the insurance companies, I just wanted to point out that performance mods will get checked if big money is involved and the guys doing the checking know what they are looking for (or at least they used to).

Just crazy that a superbike rider can add a sports pie and power commander to make it go even faster......less than 2 mods so no extra charge.

But if one of us fitted 3 items to IMPROVE safety (and therefore potentially save the insurance company money) we are penalised. Things like upgraded brake pads, alarm system, smart water chip, steel brake hoses, etc...
