New Scoots at EICMA

EICMA is in full swing, and there have been a variety of announcements, apart from the Yamaha Adventure scoots.

The production versions of the Zontes 552 Tmax competitor are there, with power output down to 48 instead of 52 and around 10kg more in weight. Still can't get my head around all the various versions.

Kymco have an unveiled their Adventure scooter - a huge looking thing that looks exactly like an Adventure bike. Only around 350cc and chain drive.

Sym have announced the first turbo maxi-scoot! It seems its basically the old TL508 Tmax clone with a new engine. The capacity has gone down to 460cc, but has a very small turbo, resulting in a power output of 54bhp. One wonders why when that power output can be obtained from an engine in the 500-50 cc bracket without the complexity of a turbo. Turbo charging seems somehow to be yesterday's technology, especially with Honda exhibiting its new electrically driven supercharger tech.
