I have had two Skodas with DSG gearboxes, many of the changes you have to check the rev counter / gear indicator to see if there's been any change. I'd guess the DCT box will become more popular as more cars now have a DSG gearbox.

DSG/DCT gearboxes are brilliant in the way they change gear. Very smooth. However, in cars there has been & still are clutch & mechatronics issues with some of them. So much so that many manufacturers have moved away from them in favour of torque convert boxes which are smaller, lighter & much more reliable. They are also just as efficient these days as DSG.
Indeed my own car has a torque converter box which is superb, very smooth & bullet proof. My previous last two new cars both had DSG boxes. Both failed repeatedly & could not be fixed. Yes...you heard it, they could not be fixed. These were new VW/Skoda vehicles & the VAG could not fix them. So I rejected the cars. Since then VAG group radically redesigned those boxes after withdrawing them from Sale. But I hear not everything is fine with them just yet.
DSG on the Honda mc's is pretty good. The only issues arise when they go wrong. They normally have to go back to Honda for replacement or repair due to their complexity. This is very costly. But then there is always a premium price to pay for having an auto bike or car! It's worth it if you want one...

I did hear of one instance of a problem with DCT equipped scoot that Honda just could not fix, and that appeared to be a software / control issue rather than a mechanical problem. However, that is just one case - they generally seem very reliable.

I remember the HFT gear box on the DN01 was a sealed unit (cassette type), 5 mins to change but £3000, and that was 15 years ago.

Most main dealers have great workshops. They can work on just about anything but its actually the extremely complex nature of these types of DCT boxes & the ensuing complex testing regime & software required that is the issue. Techs are just not trained to look after them.

Just read that we ARE going to get the X-ADV in the striking Yellow colour in the UK - though it may be a special edition rather than a long term colour.

It seems that we are going to get just 30 of the special edition yellow ones in the UK. There again, at the rate they seem to sell in the UK, they could be around for a while.

There are also several updates on the new 2025, ADV 350, including a TFT screen, and the best one as far as I'm concerned, is Auto Signal Cancelling. This is an excellent safety feature, and I don't know why all motorcycles and scooters don't have it. I'm looking forward to getting my new ADV 350 - estimated delivery, Jan
