OK - a little off topic but quite interesting...rumours that the next generation of Honda NC engined PTWs (presumably including Integra, X-ADV) will get an all new 850cc engine
https://www.bennetts.co.uk/bikesocial/n ... eplacement
The article almost mentions a smaller Africa Twin engine, which would seem to be the same thing. There was previously speculation that there was going to be a new Deauville using the Africa Twin engine - one wonders whether it would use this engine as well rather than the current engine.
Given the current chaos, whether we'll see anything new at all for a while is rather a moot point!

Quote...That could increase the already substantial storage space above the engine in the NC750 models and make for a more convincing step-thru gap on the Integra and X-ADV.
A new maxi scooter?.....I won't hold my breath though.

Re: Honda NC Engine rumours
Did hear about a smaller Africa Twin, new Deauville last year, before i went to the bike show in Birmingham, but all went quiet,if said new engine might be fitted into an X-ADV,then that would interest me....but as you say MrGrumpy the R&D departments in most motorcycle manufacturers will be very limited as to what they do or spend for a while....MrGrumpy wrote: Mon Apr 27, 2020 9:26 pm OK - a little off topic but quite interesting...rumours that the next generation of Honda NC engined PTWs (presumably including Integra, X-ADV) will get an all new 850cc engine

Well, I suspect that the R&D depts will be working away as usual, but products will only very slowly make it into production.Stephen wrote: Tue Apr 28, 2020 9:18 am the R&D departments in most motorcycle manufacturers will be very limited as to what they do or spend for a while....

As for the NC engine, I didn't like the feel of the 270 degree crank arrangement - its not clear whether the new engine would have the same arrangement (though I guess it will). Does the current Africa Twin have the same thing? Can't help thinking that 850,950cc engines are getting a bit big for being a twin and a triple would be better, though I guess that millions of BMW owners with the trad horizontally opposed engines will disagree with me!!

Yeah, but twin cylinder engines are more efficient in lots of ways.
Probably not ugly enough for the 'Ugly Bunch'!

Re: Honda NC Engine rumours
It's being discussed over on the NC forum ( not surprisingly
)......
I liked the look of the new oil filter position, could change it without any drips !, but the camshaft operating arrangement looks awkward.
But unless they find someway to make it lighter my next bike will probably have a smaller engine, not a bigger one, I need to get it in a trailer.....
