If you have an MOT between 10th June 2020 and 10th December 2020 your due date will be 12 months from that date.
Cor! Mine was 1st registered 16th June 2017, so due for 1st MOT on June 16 this year, so it really means it won't need an MOT till its 4 birthday?? Car MOT due in Aug and mk3 TMax in November so that puts them both back a year. I'm slightly alarmed that they clearly think that there are still going to be issues a long time into the future!

No, my explanation was a bit unclear.

Taking your example, this is the situation:

1. Your MOT due date will now be 16 December 2020. However, if you check online with the DVLA, it will still show as 16 June 2020 until a few days before that.

2. This means that you can take your bike for an MOT any time between 16 June and 16 December 2020.

3. Your SECOND MOT will be due 12 months after your MOT pass between 16 June and 16 December 2020

So, for example, you take your bike for its first MOT on 20th September 2020, and it passes, your second MOT will be due on 20 September 2021.

Hopefully that is clearer. 8-)

Think you may have misinterpreted that Mr Grumpy and I also believe captitano means "If your vehicle passes an MOT........
Double check your vehicle's MOT date on the government web site. You can also sign up for email reminders for Tax and MOT due dates.
Cheers.
P.S just noticed captitano has clarified his previous comments.

Yes, thank you. I was rather surprised to think there was a 12 month extension!

Just checked and my car due on the 29-4 now reads 29-10
so that's been extended.
