Is this believable? I think not..........................it's all done for the views and subscriptions. The channel has over 1M subscribers so the content must keep flowing, and therefore, said content is contrived.

Looking at what he has to do to get it started and running again, I'd say it was entirely believable.
It's a basic, carb'd GY6 at the end of the day. Fresh fuel, a new battery and plenty of turning over, it's going to run eventually.

Mustie 1 on you tube is master of getting old engines going has set routine. Check for spark check it's got oil in if not too bad leaves it .Squirts bit of 2 stoke mix thro plug hole even if 4 stroke .It usually coughs couple of times on that which usually means it will run. Then sets up temporary fuel line to it again with bit of 2 stroke mix to start with .Tries again let's it run if does run then does carb strip goes in ultrasonic cleaner .While that's working looks at fuel tank ,lines ect checks valve gaps .I've watched him get 40 year old engines going and come back with few VW air cooled engines start them up on back of truck .

And just as certain is the fact that it will grenade itself if actually ridden. Baotian really were the quintessential domestic market monkey metal Chinese tat. Back in the days of Twist'n'Go magazine (when it sold more than 15 copies a month, anyway), these horrors were amongst the biggest selling fifties of the day (2007-8-9) and around half (more of some versions) never lived to see their first MOT. Have a look at this and see for yourself just how bad they really were.capitano wrote: Wed Feb 12, 2020 12:32 am Looking at what he has to do to get it started and running again, I'd say it was entirely believable.

Cheers Jaz, this backs up my comment about the channel filming any desperate content for the sake of views and possibly, revenue. This is just scraping the bottom of the barrel with filming of Chinese tat - and people watch this sh*te - who gives a monkey's about half of these channels anyway?

Ah Jaz, if it were that black and white all in life would be simple.Jaz wrote: Fri Feb 14, 2020 12:37 amAnd just as certain is the fact that it will grenade itself if actually ridden. I'm not going to defend Baotian. Personally, I share some of your dislike of that particular brand. When Peugeot badge-engineered 2 scooters for their range, they chose one of these Baotians for the 50 and a Sinnis Matrix for the 125. I had the dubious pleasure of being able to study them side-by-side and the difference in build quality even between these 2 Chinese scooters was glaringly obvious. Switchgear, plastics, and what paintwork and metal that was visible was clearly superior on the rebadged Sinnis.
Baotian were possibly the biggest player in that era of Chinese scooters, the bike-in-a-box era, and the days of no real showrooms, and ordering a cheap moped online (I think they were £600 or thereabouts at one time.)
They came with a warranty that relied upon oil change services every 1000km to be carried out by a dealer. Getting a dealer to touch one was near impossible, and at £600 none of these bikes was really valued. They were a throwaway stepping stone until the 16 year old owner reached 17. Hence lots went without even a first oil change, and hence lots went, "bang," in a very short space of time.
If their dubious build quality, the fact that they were never valued, and that lots of owners skipped the essential maintenance a small GY6 needs didn't kiil them off, the changes in 16-er learner laws did.
Despite struggling to hit 30 mph, they were all produced to the pre-2013 moped classification. Hence, after 2013 they ceased even to have any kind of residual sales value as a cheap 16-er 'ped. I short, 16 year olds weren't allowed to ride them and they were 99% of the Baotian 50's market.
I've no doubt that the video is factual, and that the little 'ped was probably laid up after a year or less worth of light use. It may even have been one of the lucky ones that had regular oil changes and survived a few thousand miles. Whether it will see many more, and whether that freshly revived GY6 with clean oil will last log enough for something else on the bike to fail is anyone's guess.
I don't particularly care but I guess that some of the other 1,791,173 people who viewed this particular video might.

If this 'tat' was all that they could afford for daily transport HBMT, then they'd be all outta transport and money after 9 months!
They were still expensive at £600 then. I do remember the ads for these bike-in-a-box-pull-the-wool-over-my-eyes-piles-of-shite-I'm-not-a-biker-aficionado-please-rip-me-off-with-tat!
