They are fine machines to ride, even for long distances, when they're sorted. As you say, bushes, tyres and shocks - all money well spent.
The Honda Bando belts are expensive, and I had one snap after 6000 miles (was supposed to last 12000). Fool me once etc. - these days I buy the Taiwanese ones off eBay at about 1/4 of the price, and I replace them every 6000 miles whether they look OK or not. None of these has ever given any bother.
