Well its a shame it already has city grips on, but probably making the best of a bad job if you will.
Don`t put anything firmer on if you can help it.
I like mine soft and bouncey ( back to Finbar there ).
Best Mark.

Greyerbeard, I think you will find it's fine once you have a couple of thousand miles on the clock. Everything is a bit tight when the bikes are new including the suspension, which like everything else has to run in. My 400 Burgman was the same as was my GTS300. I've ridden the Forza a couple of years ago, but that was of course the old model. It felt typically firm in the suspension department. Think it had less than a 1000 miles on the clock though.
Probably not ugly enough for the 'Ugly Bunch'!

Re: Ride quality/handling XMax/Forza 300s
Don’t know if it still is but the Xmax300 was listed under the sport heading by Yamaha, I thought what’s that about but after riding one for 6000 plus miles I can see were they are coming from, it feels better when pushing on a bit the suspension works better at higher speeds, not that I find it bad at lower speed but it is set more towards the sport stiffer end of the side.
So if you like sporty then think Xmax if you like plush or more tour oriented type of suspensions try something else others may not agree or eat as many pies n bacon butties as me only real way is to ride both back to back I am very happy with my Xmax

Re: Ride quality/handling XMax/Forza 300s
FWIW...I think I've got the XMax 300 ride/handling sorted as well as I'm going to now, for my 72kg.
The main improvement, surprisingly, was putting the handlebars into their forward position - the bike was delivered with them on the rearward. A little more weight over the front wheel, and it stops me slumping back against that spine-nudging backrest...
Rear suspension on the standard setting of '3' - '2' alters the steering angle enough to compromise the handling; '4' harshens the ride without any benefit. And what a pig they are to adjust!
And front and rear tyres 2psi less than standard.
Meanwhile, 900 miles up and that engine continues to be a gem - happy at all UK road speeds and then some, and averaging a genuine 95+ mpg. Brakes are fine when bedded in, the screen suits me, and there's enough space under the seat for all my needs.
Off to the National Motorcycle Museum free open day this Saturday; that should bring the 1,000 up!
