On all tours did with Maxi touring we only used budget hotels with normal parking .Only once in Andermatt used a biker hotel had indoor secure parking and once had a city centre Ibis in Zaragoza had underground parking .We used to padlock them all together and around a post if was one .

Still musing about Normandy, we have absolutely no experience with two wheeled touring, except isle of Wight scooter rally last year

So Ferries crossing the channel, is there a limited amount of scooter spaces on each sailing? And I assume you have to strap them down? If so are the straps supplied and who does it?

Thanks Snail

I can't recall name but one ferry company don't strap your bike down (and I have used them a long time ago so might've gone bust) they let you for liability purposes.

Always take an old cloth/gloves for your seat as a wet crossing the pads are filthy/oily.

If there isn't enough room for the scoots they won't let you book the ferry. Sometimes the tunnel can be cheaper if it's peak season and trying to get a seat is a nightmare as the regulars on the night crossing without their camp beds and roll bags.

It was actually cheaper to book a ferry if you said you lived in France & paid in € but I'm swinging the lamp now (and not tried it for a few years)

You might want to look at the B&B where the Ugly Bunch stayed in 2016. Secure parking, optional evening meal and campsite nearby. Recommended. See the Meets & Rideouts section.

Well I'm amazed looks like this is dead in the water before it even starts!

As it's raining been trolling the internet for accommodation and every thing I find is already booked for next d day dates, even mailed a couple of campsites, but are already full.

Will persevere when my head stops spinning! May have to widen the search area,

6th of June dates you have to book 2 or even 3 years ahead depending on location we found, so we always went ( ugly bunch ) the week after.

Yes 6th june, no point being there any other time as we have been there many times, seen all the sites, but never on the actual day!
Probably end up going in motor home as we can stay in the 360 cinema car park for 6 euro a night no prebooking allowed just turn up and pot luck there is space so couple of days before would be ok?
Shame as I thought would be a good outing on scoot?
