Looking at my XMax400 and SH125 the fuel tank is a closed vessel when the cap is on (apart from a very small breather hole in the cap)
The Excess fuel pipe on both my scoots is a drain from the filler surround in case of over fill or spillage when refuelling...
Nothing should be splashing out under braking...
Unless I am missing something...
Hope you get it sorted...

Re: Maxsym 600i fuel leak
Update: Just filled up and worked out the fuel consumption. Only one or two mpg more than before. So it couldn't have been much of a leak. As I say there wasn't any dripping of fuel, just the occasional smell. Worth getting it seen to though.

Re: Maxsym 600i fuel leak
Hi Burgman 1958
In the last 3 fuel top ups I've had 64, 65 & 65 miles per gallon, so I don't seem to be losing any petrol. The maxisym is in for its first service on Saturday but I will mention it to the mechanic so he can have a look just to be on the safe side.

Re: Maxsym 600i fuel leak
Hi Basil 69. I have been getting 53-55 in normal conditions (town, A road and motorway) and 60-62 on longer runs. I am guessing most of your riding is of the latter sort judging by those figures.

crazy how hard it is to get the basics right ? lets hope a recall is done soon by them to prevent customers from being injured and losing their hard earned cash.

Hi Burgman1958, you can tell me how you managed solve this problem? I have the same problem in my MaxSYM 600i Sport 2017, Thank you.

Re: Maxsym 600i fuel leak
Just took it back to the dealer and they sorted it out. The importers seem to be aware of the problem, and in fact I can't believe they haven't sorted it out by now by way of a recall.lavila85 wrote: Sun Aug 05, 2018 8:16 pmBurgman1958 wrote: Wed Jun 28, 2017 10:24 pm Update: Just filled up and worked out the fuel consumption. Thanks you for answer. But do you know what they did to your maxsym? Because my dealer evade the problem.

Re: Maxsym 600i fuel leak
I recall they re-routed the drain hose for surplus fuel so it drains back into the tank rather than onto the ground. Something like that. The dealer found something about it on the Sym dealer website. If you have any more queries I will ask the dealer who did mine and see if they can recall exactly what they did.
