Honda Breakdown Cover

Post by rayb »

I'm blowed if I can find an answer in their blurb. Does it cover punctures?

Don't know specifically, but manufacturers breakdown cover is usually provided by an existing breakdown provider eg AA, or RAC. These normally do cover punctures - ie a get you home or to a garage fix

Last time I used the AA for a puncture they stuck a get you home plug in and put a speed restriction sticker on the Speedo, then you had to sort out the tyre

No but if you have their breakdown cover, they'll come out and sort it. Which is good to know.

When I bought my Africa Twin I was told breakdown cover was through the AA and they did cover punctures.

Although, I doubt they'd actually be able to do much if I did get a puncture on a bike with tubed tyres.

They are quite resourceful chaps actually, so you never know. And if they couldn't they'd probably convey you to a garage or to your destination, depending on the level of cover.

puncture repair has a huge grey area , where alot of companies won't do repairs , incase of a blow out or accident caused by a dodgy fitting.. so they would more likely take you to a shop or home ,on the back of a lorry ... i carry a cheap plug set with some air canisters to temp fix...
Good friends don't let you do stupids thing alone .

The AA have done a temp plug repair for me a couple of times. Obviously these are external plugs so speed limited and are intended to get you mobile again, after which you have to investigate whether the tyre can be properly repaired via internal plug or replaced.
