Soon to be Xmax 300 owner

Post by ChevySoul »

I've not been on here for quite a while now.
After 4 1/2 years of owning a Piaggio X10 350, the time has come to downsize. This is due to the sheer size and weight of my X10 becoming too much for me now. Trying to push it around fully loaded (especially on Rallies), has become most uncomfortable. Riding it is no problem, but if I dropped it there's no way I'd be able to pick it back up!
So, after taking an Xmax 300 demonstrator out last year, I knew that was going to be my next Scoot. My only issues with it were the rear suspension and seat height (short legs, not good  ).
In February I did a deal with my local Yamaha dealer with a part ex on my X10. Typically, for me, they didn't have the new Blue colour in stock that I wanted. So I have been patiently waiting for delivery due the middle of April. In the meantime I have bought several upgrades (YSS gas Shocks, Scorpion exhaust, Givi rack & top box, DNA Air Filter, Adjustable brake levers, Bar end mirrors and Xmax wheel rim tape).
I'm liking all the positive reviews on the forum, it's made for great reading 8-)

Well, if this forum is anything to go by, Yamaha have a huge hit with it on their hands!

x models are way too big so i can see where you been struggling. Yamaha is very good brand build quality and performance however they do stick cheap nasty forks on their scooters.

Get picks up once the bike is home and you customised it to look how u want it.

I've owned my Xmax 300 for 4 weeks now, but due to the crap weather we've had I'd only put 100 miles on the clock. That all changed last weekend.
Saturday I headed down to Tenby National Scooter Rally for the day - 300 miles round trip. On Sunday I rode up to Lake Bala in North Wales - 170 miles round trip. Another 50 miles on Monday and it had it's 1st service done yesterday.
What a totally awesome scoot, so light & flick able round the bends. I'm also getting used to the high seat, but the rear shocks are terrible (will put my YSS gas shocks on asap) 8-)

I had 2 x10 piaggio bikes, absolutely great machines feet forward seating position smooth and powerful... I'd be interested to hear How the feet position is on the x max bikes......blue core engine sounds good and 29bhp I believe as well! Bodes well in my book!

Ps the blue looks class!

Feet wise, you can't stretch out but your can shift them from flat down to forward on an incline. Not ideal, but better than a big wheel style scooter where it's feet flat only.

I have tried to put my feet further up when riding but I am not keen on the sense I get with the scoot...I think that would be much better for long distance on the motorway to stretch my legs or rest the knees after long ride...i much prefer the normal position though...and I still tend to put my foot like if i was on my motorbke from time to time...( the brain refuses to remember it is not a bike) !!...I am still very pleased with it and really pushed it few days ago and was not disappointed...the only thing I find still a bit hard is to find it a bit more difficult to maneouvre when sat on it but I love balancing it as long as I can on traffic lights...Unlike you I wont need to change the suspension because I od not find these one too bad..and it is mega costly to buy...So, happy with it as it is,,,enjoy:)
