It could have been worse

Post by basil 69 »

Came a cropper this morning on the country lanes near where I live on the ice
I new it was slippy but I still went over even with my feet down to act as stabilizers.

Ouch, my old B125 ended up like that after my first off due to ice many years ago. But its only plastic, I take it you are ok?

Glad you are ok-ish. Bikes can be mended far easier that we can.
Those painted plastics can be painted again no problem, the black is a different mater as they go hairy and can not get the surface finish back..
Hope all is well..

Oh dear....my Tmaxs are locked up in the garage for the duration of this weather....I don't think I'll be able to use them until next week...

i too came off when i least expected it. Very treacherous conditions tonight, i knew it and was riding very cautiously, every corner preparing myself and "feeling" out the turn and adjusting as necessary. All good, 3 corners away from home. And it happens when im not even expecting anything to happen, i was almost at a literal standstill just checking over my shoulder and the bike just went from under me! was so shocked that for all of the places and times to happen it was the most mundane an unexpected points.

Anyway very light scratches near front plastics the rear plastics got saved as my leg got trapped underneath lol luckily it wasnt the tmax and only the little scoot that weighs 140kg

The advantages of a maxi scooter are many, but the vulnerability of all that plastic bodywork coming off in snow aren't one of them.
Sums it up exactly. Plus if you are cautious and take it slowly you get cars up your arse. Meaning of course if you do come a cropper that car will go right over you. What with this and the risk of damage both to the bike and yourself (the plate and pins in my leg bear witness to this) I think it is best simply to leave the bike at home and use the car if you have one, and if not public transport. It's just not worth it in my opinion.
