Has anyone adjusted the suspension on a UH200?

Post by dannyburgman »

Hi everyone

My ride's been pretty hard on this, and I discovered that my suspensions' set to the hardest position (5).

Does anyone have any experience of adjusting the shock absorbers please?

I bought the bike second hand, and it's missing its tools. I just tried doing it with a borrowed Vespa C spanner, but couldn't get in, especially behind the air cleaner. Do I need to remove this to adjust the suspension?

I've added a couple of photos for illustration.

Many thanks
Danny

Can't see your pictures, for some reason imgur never works on this laptop of mine.
Anywho, usually easy to adjust the shocks without the tool.
Undo the lower mount bolt, swivel the bottom of the shock clear and just turn the adjuster with your hand.
Bolt it back in place then do the other one.

make sure your scoot is on the centre stand, so springs are slack, you would think you can turn them by hand.... your pics suggest its not been moved prob for ages wd40 them and then leave 10 mins, you should be able to grab bottom of the spring and lift to take some of the strain, you should then be able to turn the adjuster anti clockwise, be careful
I cant seem to remember.. I don't know where I'm going, but I'm on my way.

Thanks guys. It seems to be pretty solidly stuck - too much to turn by hand (or pliers) even after lots of WD40.

But, by removing the lower mount bolt I can get to everything properly, so I'll be able to use a universal C spanner now.

Step by step, but I think that will solve it!
