So having got the Maxsym ready for winter yesterday I took it out for a spin today, not that cold in Brighton but wet and windy. So the new Tucano Urbano neoprene muffs, well I found them a bit of a pain to fit but having only used cheap muffs in the past I can see why people rant about these. They are rigid which makes getting ones hand in and out very easy and no wind or rain penetrated them. They do not cover the controls so you have to get used to operating the controls through them, not a big problem but it did take me a while to get used to finding my horn button. The TU cover that I got for the 400 last year fits the 600 perfectly and whilst they do take some getting used I had forgotten just how pleasant they can be in bad weather. I wish I had put it on last week before riding up to London in that monsoon. This year I have the added bonus that the 600 is fitted with a heater vent. This ensures that a steady stream of gentle warm air fills the space under the TU cover. This results in a warm feeling from your ankles to your crotch (what more can you ask for), so I have a feeling this winter will not be too bad riding wise.
On another note with me trying to use the Max has my main transport I wanted a winter jacket that was not too bike like so I could wear it to a restaurant or the theatre and was also not too big since the lockers at my gym are on the small size. I came across this one on Amazon and whilst I do not think it good enough for higher speed travel for around town I think it is ok. Its much smarter than its price would dictate and its very light which makes it comfortable to wear off the bike (and great for my gym locker). It as a removable liner and it felt quite warm and comfortable today and it kept me very dry. Unusually for a jacket of this price its well armoured (not CE of course) and as zipped ventilation vents front and rear. I ordered it at lunch time on the Friday and it arrived at 9 on the Saturday morning. So one to think about. " onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
