We also upgraded (FRONT ONLY) the brakes to Sintered; much better braking and fixed the rear lock-up balance problem inherent to all 530's.
Well.... I've never managed to lock the rear wheel when braking on mine!! So, it can't be that much of an issue! Brake levers aren't on/off switches you know.

We were trying to get the 530 to "panic stop' as well as my all-sintered Tmax500, and the rear on the 530 kept locking prematurely. They still use the SAME front brakes on the 530 as on the 500, but went to a much larger rear with the 530. Reviewers who have ridden it hard remarked upon it. Increasing just the front's braking efficacy with the sintered pads allowed the 530 to have optimal brake balance.

Came in handy a few weeks ago, as we were burning though the twisties in the back country with the 530 leading, and came around a 270 degree right-hander at about 35 mph to find about 200 vehicles STOPPED just around the turn, due to (another) Harley crash.

We both grabbed ALL the brakes, slowing in an amazingly short distance, and cleaned-out our shorts when we got home. With the stock brakes he would have put it down or plowed into the rear vehicle...

The only way I've managed to lock the rear on mine is by deliberate, hard braking with the rear only on a line of slime down the middle of what pass for country lanes in the Cotswolds - just to see what it felt like.
But I have to agree that the fronts feel a bit 'minimal' from high speed when heavily loaded - I may well at least try the sintered - which brand did you use?

Right here.
If you like I can sell you some, very reasonable rates, shouldn't cost you more than about £5000
Would you prefer to send me a cheque or pay by bank transfer?

Ah but is that sunshine in a military barracks in Scotland, and therefore unavailable for viewing...?
