Hello
Ok ill re post this here as the shit replys you get from Dave miles on the X9 owners club is just nick picking off topic crap.
Ok i got loads of money before people ask about money for my test, and to put it out there for people that want to know or nick pick at, my test is booked and is 2 months away due to been fully book at my center, so that's the ( spend your money on your test subject )....now that's out the way...
Ok i Been doing my X9 125 up, iv given it new brake pads all round, i have given it brand new swing arm bearings and brand new rollers new oil filter and new oil.
After checking the transmission i have noticed a crack on the Variator, last owner must done this or its done it while changing rollers for some reason, so need a new Variator. my question i asked on the X9OC was, is a J-COSTA-EVO3 a good buy or is it just as good to buy a Variator from piaggio and go the OEM route ? What experience do you people have with Variator set ups ?
Many thanks

Re: Variator Best ?
Solo, why do you think anybody is going to help you after you have slagged of Dave? He is a man who has helped out many Muppets with their problems. From my days in x9oc I remember he sent hundreds of posts trying to help you out, you often ignored him and paid the price, in the end he refused to help you further. Clearly he has tried again from reading x90c but once again you think you know better.

So why did he post then or post irrleivent crap ? he dont need to comment or post or read my post ! very simple......... I dont know better Ferrit some times i do sometimes i dont, i ask people things and opinions and then move on, i ither take it or i leave it, simple, thats how i work!
Don't care what he does or what advice he has given me past, i concentrate on present, no helfull comments its was simply a post to spend monye on test and buy a new helmet, he still posted total crap on said post! about i should spent my money on my Test as if its important ( its not a priority in my life never has been but people still go on about it, just annoying ) and he offered no advice on a Variator replacement as i looked over google and over reviews but decided to post on X9OC for some more advice before i buy one. If he had no adivce then why did he post crap ? it wasn't advice and it wasn't helpful, and yes he has helped me but regardless of the past that don't jussifi the present.
And Meldrew my bike is Fine its runs it dont need putting back on the roads, its always been on the road its runs and i did 250 miles other day on her never missed a beat, she runs sweet!!, its mint and goes and serves me well but people have the views that's it crap on there just because i post a question about a Variator replacement, its a small crack, really really really tiny! but i don't like it and as i got loads of money sitting about doing nothing i am going to replace everything on it that don't look right.
Dave Miles did mention comment about going and buying a new helmet than a new Variator ? ( irreverent to the thread and pointless ) ? the problem is with people they always assume things in the online world and that's why arguments start, never though to ask besides my nolan 103 white bad helmet and my other helmets if i had a brand new one, in fact i have a brand new Helmet that cost me £180 sit in my room never used but i prefer my Nolan. just saying Meldrew.
Just replaced the digidash and fixed it and now running perfect along with rollers / Belt / Brake pads / oil / filters / all bearings / head bearings / wheel bearings / spent loads on her to get her perfect all done my self by me.
I don't buy perfect bikes lol, i buy them because i like doing them up
, but! people on the X9 owners club have not grasp the concept that over the years i have brought most X9 to do up, they assume i buy crap, but i buy crap for a reason, so i do them up in my spear time you see.
All i posted was a post for HELP on picking the right Variator for my bike, and was going to buy what ever people recomened!
I appreciate your comment Meldrew and i still love you!
remeber i am a female pudenda and its who i am lol rememeber that when we meet for coffee

Re: Variator Best ?
You own an old 125, the best variator you can get for it is the cheapest one.
Which won't be a JCosta.

Re: Variator Best ?
Get an OEM and use Dr Pulley rollers and sliders in it.
I had a JCosta in my Nexus 500 for 1000 miles, the pins wore very quickly and the bike was revving its nuts off all the time, so much so that it sounded like a chavy 50cc ped rather than a 500cc maxi.

Get an OEM and use Dr Pulley rollers and sliders in it Sounds like a good idea, I just assumed the JCosta was the OEM replacement and longer lasting and hard wearing.Funkycowie wrote:Get an OEM and use Dr Pulley rollers and sliders in it.

on that advice ill stick to a OEM, i seen a OEM one online but Dr Pulley rollers i see you have to go down one size to compensate for the kinda rollers, confussed on that be, and google is confussing me even more, the factor waight is 7.4gr for a piaggio X9 but its telling me to put in 6.4gr in of getting Dr Pulley rollers ? that right

Re: Variator Best ?
You can go up to 10% lighter with Dr Pulley rollers without affecting upper end performance. If you match OEM with DrP's on a 125 you might lose a few mph on the high end and be sluggish off the line. If you go lighter as it suggests then you may get increased mpg and lower end performance off the line but on a 125 I don't know how noticeable this will be.
However the DrP's will last about twice as long as standard and give you near enough the same affect as a JCosta.

Re: Variator Best ?
I am not casing any trouble i am telling it how it is, if you wanna ban me for free speech and speaking my mind about a guy that posted Total crap and irreverent comments, i posted for advice on a new veriator. not bike gear scooter test. My test i am doing is a 125 light licence, so i will be limited to 125cc 15bhp, i am happy it that.
So where am i making trouble, it is him that is in the wrong and just because you dont wana admit it then thats not my problem!
Funkycowie : Thank you for the sound advice! its the type i was orginaly looking for on the X9OC, many thanks!

Re: Variator Best ?
Happy with 125? So why you then looking at getting a 200 kit on Facebook.
No need to come on here slagging Dave off.
All we were saying is stop wasting your cash on things like a j Costa, laminar lips, multiple scoots, exhausts and just pads your test and get a decent nick bike. And wear a decent helmet that you own and stick those bloody l plates on
And don't come whinging the world is against you. Eg. Doing 60 in a 30 with no working speedo etc.
On a positive note, its great to see you learning mechanical stuff and your photography is great.
