Got back on Sunday from 9 day trip to St Gervais near Mont Blanc, we did 1900 miles in total averaged 57 mpg fully loaded up also with top box. Mine was smallest bike there and most motorway speeds was in high 80', the highest I went to was 105 mph. The scoot performed flawlessly and was a pleasure to ride, it coped with the long motorway rides as well as the shorter ones round the twisties. The others I went with were blown away with just how well it coped with it all and the only time it could not match the other bikes was when the speeds exceeded 105 mph that for me was the point to back off. On one ride out we headed over to Switzerland and into Italy and back, I was following a guy on a brand new 899 ducati panigale, the scoot stuck to it like glue at one point as we descended down the mountain pass, now don't get me wrong with a better rider it would have p***ed all over me but the guy wasn't too hot on bends and the scoot excelled itself way beyond my expectations. Fuel consumption again was great considering when the others excellerated mine was using much more energy to keep with them.
The trip started with overnight crossing to Rotterdam and then 450 miles or so to Freiburg where we stopped off for 2 nights, the bike didn't move again until we left to head off to St Gervais via Geneva town centre in rush hour, that's Garmin sat nav's for you, temperature in high 20's and we were crawling through the town it was just too busy to try to filter with all the gear we had on the bikes. With all the stops we finally arrived at our Hotel at 7.30pm, an 10 hour journey in total from leaving the ferry. Next day was a leisurely ride to Chamonix the bottom of Mont Blanc where we had our first misshap two of the guys locked their helmets to one of the wheels only to find out he'd brought the wrong key and he'd closed the lock. 4 hours later after we been up Mont Blanc we managed to get some cutters and cut through the chain.
Mont Blanc for anyone that's never been up is awesome and we'll worth the 55 euro cost to take the cable car to the top. The ride back to the hotel was fast and as the 7 bikes tore through the bends we set off speed cameras and lit the road up, thankfully they were all forward facing, not that in any way am I condoning speeding.
Will post more and pics once on laptop.

Re: Mini tour of French Alps
Chamonix was our last stop on our trip last year and after having some croissants and coffee for breakfast in the shadow of Mont Blanc we made it home in one go - my longest day trip ever - 661 miles on my Burgman! This year in July four of us managed to get flashed at least a dozen times between us in France by both forward and rear facing cameras. Haven't heard anything yet!

On my first European trip there were four of us. Me and a friend both on Burgman 650's and we always led the way. Next in line was another mate on an R1 and behind him, riding slowest of all, was our other friend on a MV Agusta F4! Scooters ruled on that trip.
