has anybody fitted a K&N air filter to a burgman 400 if so what difference did it make to performance

One of these might suit better than a K&N... you'll have to find one for the right year

You could get a sheet of air filter material from RAMAIR uk and make your own washable reusable filter with better breathing ability . Cost less than a tenner they may even make one for the burgman . If you have a carburated machine you should check for AFR with a plug chop as you may well have to adjust your mixture . If fuel injected the ecu will adjust itself within its preset perimeters . Air filters by themselves do not give you a massive gain in performance .
