The one that came with my mk4 is a cheap Lextek but looks exactly the same.
The other box I've got is marked yamaha but has a shad fitting plate. Inside it's marked 5kg max but no markings on the cheap one.

Differences??
The Lextek looks a bit cheaper and it has to be locked when you carry it. The yamaha one, although closed,, can't be locked when you carry it
as the handle is part of the locking system.
The lextek has a bit of play when its fitted on the scoot but it seems secure enough.
The Lextek lock and closure system isn't as good as the Yam/Shad one.
Regarding the weight that you can carry,, I'm sure the Yamaha rack on the mk4 is marked 5kg maximum anyway. So even with an expensive topbox,, I wouldn't like to put much weight in. Heavy stuff goes under the seat!

I use the cheap one because I'm too idle to swop them round!

Yes, weight is an issue. I have a 6kg notice on my rack so a light cheap box allows me to carry much more. My box looks better in real life than the amazon pic BTW - although I think it's the exact same box. I think it's a older Givi copy. Cheap cheerful, light and easy to use - it's a win-win.

My Piaggio Shad X10 is quite a heavy beast so heavy stuff goes under the seat.

BTW when I fitted my cheap boxes I put them as far forward as possible - allowing for the seat to open and the pillion not complain. That gets the weight forward and onto the most secure bit of the mount/rack. Any heavy stuff I end up carrying ends up at the forward facing end of the box also for that reason.

I got one of these http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B0055RF ... ot_redir=1" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
It is obviously cheap and the base plate does not look very good, but it does the job for me. I only fit it when I need it, so otherwise keep the original plate in place.

I thought I was victim of failing faculties as I can never remember which ones a Givi Monokey system and which one's a Monolock. However, I was chatting to the spares/accessories guy in the local big dealer and he said that even after 10 years of selling them, he could never remember which was which either!
All I know is that my mk4 has got the flash bike orientated system (topbox weighs a ton!), whilst previous Tmaxs have had the lighter 'scooter' system.
