Rejoining the community

Post by Dexter »

So I kept my Burgman 400 from July 2012 until early March 2013, I did 8000 miles on it.
I PX'd it for an '04 TDM900, kept that for 6 months then traded it in for a new GSX1250FA, which I'm using now.
Thing is; I am missing the Burgman.
It was a little lacking at the top end on my 50 mile commute up the A3, but offered excellent protection from the elements (Givi screen, TU muffs and knee blanket). Biggest plus, it was cheap as chips to keep and run, £20 and 20 minutes for an oil and filter change. :)
So the choice seems to be Burgman 650, BMW C650 or Piaggio 500 MP3.
I do favour the Suzuki and perhaps will opt for a used one at first to make sure my selective memory isn't playing tricks.
I see several K4/K5 20k Burgmans in the £3 to £4 k price range, are there issues with this age / milage?
Hoping to rejoin the maxi community soon.

Welcome back, I think you'll find the 650 a completely different beast to the 400. icon_wink-.gif Wales.gif

I ran a 400 then drifted off to conventional bikes. Like yourself really missed the Burgman. Bought a 650, wonderfull. Cracking performance, 60mpg, bit more wieght (so what). Best two wheel move I have made.

Geoff.

Thanks for the advice.
v. interesting BMW observations - I was tempted by their F800 once, but steered clear after reading about the bikes fragility on forums.
So Burgman 650 then.
new or 2nd hand?

If you are in a position to consider new... There's a newly released Super-Scoot - the SYM Maxsym 600i ABS - which appears better value. ;)

Might be worth hanging in there to see when and where the SYMUK (rolling) Roadshow takes place... :geek:

Check out the Maxsym 600i thread: http://www.maxi-muppets.co.uk/forum/vie ... =5&t=15925" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
