2014 Burgman 650 heated grips.

Post by macamxthe1st »

On a couple of occasions all three leds on the grip heater control module flash in unison. There is no reference to this in the manual. Can anyone please tell me what is going on here.

Thanks.

Geoff.

I had exactly the same on my 2010 650 Executive. Only did it one time and after the ignition was turned off then on again all was well. As you say, if it has happened a couple of times on your machine then perhaps a call to you local dealer, who may be able to offer advice / assistance.
Yesterday is history, tomorrow a mystery but today is a gift!

Hi Geoff,

I think the Suzuki control unit is the same as the Honda one I have on my Silverwing.
These detect a lowering of the voltage and go into a sort of 'standby' mode where the grips aren't actually heated but the lights flash and the unit remembers what setting it was on. When the voltage goes back up the control and grips return to whatever setting they were on before and continue to provide heat.
It's there to stop the grips draining the battery if the engine is stopped or left idling for a while.

Mine has done it a couple of times after prolonged idling. I suspect that the units are a bit too 'sensitive'.

Paul
