I've used the Haldon Grill before as I am originally a Plymuff boy and have explored most of God's 3rd greatest creation, 1st being me, 2nd Plymuff Argyle and 3rd Devon.Fishtown Phil wrote:There's a couple of places not too far from the 303 that are better valueCara's Diner near Woodbury Salterton EX5 1EW is about 20 miles off the A303 from the old Newcott Chef on Brooklands Industrial estate and is well worth a visit
great breakfast, free WiFi and parking right outside. Lots of traffic free roads for exploring East Devon coastline as well.
Haldon Grill at the top of Telegraph Hill on the A380 (EX6 7XW) is definitely worth a visit, and because of it's location is within easy riding distance for the guy's in Cornwall as well
I would combine a meet with a trip home to see the family and thought the 303 would be an easy location to get to for most. I used to travel from Plymouth to Crewkerne when dating a girl from the Zet, stopped at the Chef a couple of times.
As you mention Phil the service is hit and miss depending on season just like the sister branch in Cornwall on the A38.
