In the group 400-class scooter review that Piaggio won with the X10-350, they said that the Xciting400 was fastest, had the most power and torque, got great mileage, handled the best, braked the best, and was a great price. If the windscreen was better it would have won!
Why was it delivered with a short Sport Screen? KYMCO figured that most sports-oriented riders would WANT that...look at how most of the Tmaxes are set-up in Europe...Sport Screens. Kymco HAS a factory Touring Screen for the Xciting400 that looks great and works very well. They just equipped the bike with what would be the most popular, not necessarily SCORE the highest.
Consider the OEM screens on the Citycom300, Majesty400, Tmax500, etc. ALL JUNK! Why deliver a product with a screen that doesn't really suit the majority of your riders? Kymco is saving the Sporty Crowd the cost of buying an accessory "Sport" screen. And so they scored lower...when they should have gotten kudos for value!

Re: Sym citycom 300i
Gotcha Mr Grumpy, regarding the Maj 400. When I opted for my AN400 there was, for me at least, only the Maj 400 competing. It really did do it for me, looks probably swayed it and not having owned many Yams in past.
Okay, so lots to think about but most definately fun looking.
Bridge in Exeter today, have a 60 plate SH300 in white, 4.2K for £3500
They can keep it at that price. Bleeding robbers. And the owner of Bridge turns up in his 14 plate, M3 badged X5.
I'm liking the the Joymax 300 and Downtown 300 currently. But cant find any to sit on. The J3 looks great but I think that the lack of 'leg stretch' on the front foot plate puts me off.

Do you mean the Kawasaki J300 or the Joymax300?
Certainly the Downtown 300/Kawasaki J300 have no way of stretching your legs forward.
One reason for ordering an X10-350 for me was the huge about of room on it.

Yes, the J300 does not have room to stretch out but the foot position is actually very natural so I did not find it a problem when I tried it.

unfortunately thats the industry in uk for you, unless you are yam, honda suzi or kawa whom have dealers everywhere, its harder to find the other dealer model types and if you do they dont have demonstrators, as they are usually multi franchise dealers. Go demo the kawa J300 if you can then you can decide, as the height etc is the same, the seat is wider on the j300 against the downtown, its was a natural riding position for me with my back condition, im only 5`9 small so was fine for me, its 191 kilo weight does not feel that way, my nexus is 225 kilo and the riding position more a tune to a bike, its like you sit in the j300 rather than on top of it, easy to get your leg over too

Re: Sym citycom 300i
Sorry, I meant the Kawa J300 Globs.
I'm Sure I'd get on with J300 but just think that it would be a happy option to put feet forward. The Forza allows it, Xmax 250 and of course the Burg 400.
But, cripes, isn't the Xciting 400 pretty?! It's aTaiwanese TMax! It will probably be difficult to find one in the flesh without a bit of travelling.

Hmmmm that may not be entirely coincidental! Or maybe as they are supplying the engine for the BMW C600, they may as well make something that looks that like that! There again, I've never regarded the TMax as pretty.....Capt. R Swipe wrote:S0.

Yes I thought of an upstyled T-max too but without the eye watering price.MrGrumpy wrote:Hmmmm that may not be entirely coincidental! Shouldn't be too hard to find one - Kymco run a professional business model so I'd start investigating!!
If I hadn't got my X10 coming up soon I'd be hunting one down right now...

Ah, now that C600 stuff is news to me. I'm learning quite a lot about this Kymco and its donating motors etc. to other companies' bikes. It would appear that Kymco is a respected manufacturer. Thanks for that snippet MrG.
I've moved on from the Citycom 300i, which started this thread. More research reveals that is is discontinued, difficult to find used anyway, that Anon owns one, (and is 6'7"
I phoned Kymco yesterday and they revealed that GT Mortorcycles will become a new dealer for them imminently here in Plymouth and that the Xciting 400 is due end of April or early May.
I'm still after something lighter but might be persuaded to go larger again.
Thanks all for your responses. I am really enjoying the chat and insight on MaxiMuppets.

Re: Sym citycom 300i
G t Motorcycles are also kawasaki dealers, not pushing you in any way as your choice, you mention lighter.. go online to kawasaki.co.uk .. enter there winners weekend (its THIS WEEKEND) then do down and have a ganders at the kawasaki j300, i think you had to pre book for a test ride, anyways take your licence and passport and have a ride, thats if they have one left.. anyways you enter the draw to win a kawasaki j300 and lots of other prizes like bsb tickets etc.. while you await the kymco
I cant seem to remember.. I don't know where I'm going, but I'm on my way.
