I got told by other scooter enthusiasts that the baffle removal has a negative effect on low-mid performance and might have a slight gain in full throttle.
A power commander would be needed to make "no baffle" adjustments. But too much money for so little, me thinks.
Personally I tried both with and without, and didn't notice any difference. Except for the obvious noise gain. (I know, subjective).
Though I will use the baffle on the next trip. The bass goes through earplugs easily. lol

I was told many moons ago by a reputable bike tuner/racer that a pipe alone make little or no difference what so ever.ridinhigh wrote:I think you should stick to a two stroke changing the silencer on one will make a difference if you up jet the carbmaxiscoot nz wrote:nonsenseridinhigh wrote:Its, unlikely that a exhaust will give any more power on a four stroke ,without a fair bit of head work
bigger valves bigger carb and maybe a high lift cam, the noise might fool you into thinking its faster
It wont on a four stroke ,and i have changed silencers on a lot of motor cycles big ones ,make a noise
but no discernable speed advantage

Fitting a can on any 4 stroke will give around 3-4 bhp extra, (average), but when tuned in to a power commander,, well why do you think race bikes dont run on standard cans.
Now im exited,,,,,, meldrew,, lazer make cans , but shark dont.
. ( after four years ive found a fault in the armour.

In their brochure, Akrapovic claimed that putting their exhaust onto the mk1 Tmax would give up to 4 more bhp at the wheel (without baffle) - with dyno graphs to prove, or at least support, their claims. However, for the mk4, they are only claiming 0.5bhp, which isn't a great return on an £800 investment!Earl wrote: I was told many moons ago by a reputable bike tuner/racer that a pipe alone make little or no difference what so ever.

Put the Baffle back in as it was pissing off the Mrs !! Actually no change in overall performance , possibly slight lag from the lights as you set off , but much quieter , more relaxed ride . Only negative is people pulling out as they don't hear you coming !!
