HELP WITH TMAX 500 2010 SERVICE INTERVALS

Post by michaelphillips »

i will be looking at http://www.doble.co.uk/9672/used-motorc ... TMAX%20500" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; in a couple of days and trying to familiarise myself with the owners manual as the scoot has done 9000 miles, owners manual here http://www.yamaha-motor.eu/eu/services/ ... index.aspx" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; scooters -xp500- 2010 - english
looking through pages 6-2 maintenance i cant see the 3000 mile service of oil and filter :!: i know i can do everything myself and look after her, but i wanted to make sure that i have trouble free - touch wood not having to do servicing for 3000 miles, so i was thinking to do a deal and have the 12000 mile service done and as far as i can see its replace the below but i am getting myself confused so if anyone can advise please, so i can have these done in the deal, if i go for the girl
air filter :?: (how many0
V-belt case air filter elements :?: (is there more than one)
V belt change

the dealers are about 15 miles from me but i know the area, just want to get all my facts right before i go in guns blazing  as it should have had the oil and filters at 9000 miles so only above to deal with .. cheers in advance

coolant change every three years (need to check history)
I cant seem to remember.. I don't know where I'm going, but I'm on my way.

Air Filter x3.

Engine intake which is up front below the handle bars.

Then two for the V-Belt case. Round one on the right side attached to the cover and a square one with plastic pipe on the left side which connects to a rubber hose that brings air in behind the driven pulley. V-Belt ones might just need blowing with air.

Just doing the V-Belt and filters your looking at asking them to do the scooter cheaper by about £220 including labour (2 hours if they re-grease as they go)

thank you, i will be able to do the air filters myself, with some guidance, i was more concerned with the v belt and its filters to change, so i wont have to do them for 12000 miles and to me thats 3 to 4 years :D so would be worth me sorting now rather than later , cheers for that :D

Dobles are always willing to negotiate what seem decent deals, they like to turnover big numbers, I know several satisfied customers.

The maintenance will cost them less than cash discount so a good approach to take I think, unless perhaps you ask them to do it for free when you get to 12k, you're only risk is they go bust before then.

thanks poldark , was thinking of sorting before i would take ownership, i am hoping its had its 9000 mile oil and filter change, and 3 year coolant change, if not why not approach to work which should be carried out, used http://www.motorbikevaluation.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; which is free and gives you retail - part ex and trade to give me an idea they have it at 5169 to 5492 retail and the part ex at 4100 to 4300 so they probably got scope there, cant get a trade in price for mine   as gilera not on the list

Because....it ain't there! It demands an oil change when it feels like it (when the light comes on - presumably at 3000 miles or so) and filter is only changed at longer intervals. On the mk4 the filter isn't changed until 12,000 miles - I think the mk2 was every 6000 miles, not sure about the mk3.

Ah yes. There you are...another advantage of the mk4 Tmax over the mk3 - it saves you the cost of one oil filter every 12000 miles!
