Globs, very well put. The dealer I bought my SYM from is a big dealer in town with many franchises. They dropped Kymco in favour of SYM, as they dealt with motoGB for other brands. Now they have dropped SYM and back to Kymco. this must say something in favour of Kymco for service. I have emailed SYM several times in regard to the new Joymax, but had only one reply which didn't answer my questions. It's not hard to keep your customers happy and well informed. Surely motoGB are in this to sell to the public, so why not get on there side. As you said, no dealer seems to advertise the SYM brand, seems more like a side line to move small scooters if there main franchise doesn't have that range. No one want's to have the more expensive models in stock. When I bought my GTS I had never seen one in the flesh, just pics on line and hope for the best when you part with 4 grand on something you haven't seen or tried out. I've tried the Honda Forza and Kawasaki J300 because the dealers got them in. SYMUK you have a great audiance here, so promote motoGB and don't try and make excuses for them. Yeah the French importer is huge, but we get out machines from motoGB and want a company we can rely on. Even with all this I am still very keen on a new Joymax, must be mad!! :lol:
enjoy eXtra to the Max

Is the Joymax suited to Scottish winters...
Wonder what the silver finned box under the sidepanel is and what is it doing in that position?

It's a Rectifier/Regulator. ;)

You are right Mac about the difficulty in getting to see SYM bikes. I did get to test ride a Joymax and I have to say I thought it was very impressive in fact it was because of that I tried and bought the 400.

Ohhhh, silly me! I must've misunderstood! Did you mean;

"Wonder what the silver finned box under the sidepanel is" [I know it's a Rectifier/Regulator.] "and what is it doing in that position?" [The fins are designed to facilitate cooling so why on earth would they place it above an exhaust which can get very hot? What if the bike had a well used or 'tired' battery and the rider was sat on the bike after a 'twistie' ride-out, waiting in line at a petrol station, chatting to their chums with the lights on and the engine running on a hot windless day? Surely it could overheat? Potentially ending in a catastrophic fireball. :shock: This is almost as dangerous as having small mph markings...] :?:

Have a glance here (CAUTION - Shocking Rectifier/Regulator location images.): http://roda2roda.blogspot.co.uk/2011/08 ... lator.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

;)

I think you have him sussed. Some people can't resist asking and answering their own questions in order to demonstrate to others what great knowledge they have. :lol:

You missed the bit about Scottish winters.
Bad nasty saltyness like you wouldn't believe.
Hot windless day?
Unheard of.
