my only problem is lack of dealers and them not having more models on the floor, other than that, I think some stuff being said is quite harsh, give the bloke a chance and get the brand established with some decent dealers and models to look at first then worry about where things are made having relevance, theres a good chance anyone owning or thinking of owning a new maxi scooter has done some research first unless there daft in regards what is and isn't a decent buy, the UK market for scooters is shit at best, even big brand main dealers can be problematic, they are not interested in selling or buying big scooters and a lot of them wanna pull ya eyes out for servicing and parts prices, I say sym and kymco are more than competitive to main brands and would not put me off buying one, mostly we are very hard to please over here which wont help anyone wanting to bring stuff over to sell in the UK if we all bitch n moan before the get go, the guys doing his best to at least try and cater for us as best as he can, the proofs in the pudding so to speak, its upto him to prove his word, I am happy to sit back and watch it unfold, I aint interested in a bike till next year anyways so I can wait!

If the new Sym Joymax 125 is priced correctly for the UK market at £3499+otr why is a TGB X-Motion almost nine hundred pounds cheaper?
You're joking right! You don't know the answer? Clue...have you never actually made a proper comparison between a Sym and the other brands you mention? The Syms are priced correctly and SYMUK is being very helpful in explaining some pricing stuff too. Thanks for that. I'm pretty sure many of the differences in bike pricing is actually more about the exchange rates concerning pound and euro at the time when importers actually make the purchase of their new bikes. It can easily make differences of hundreds of pounds between countries for the same model. Freight costs can be massively different too from country to country.
Probably not ugly enough for the 'Ugly Bunch'!

In typical fashion we blamed the Japanese for flooding our country with highly reliable and affordable Nissans, Datsuns and Toyota's for our car industry failing. Just like we did with our motorcycle industry. Things are much better now, we actually produce quality with the best of them. And our customer service is second to none. We get it now! Oh...
Good Customer Service? Which country are you living in?? So called 'Customer Service' in the UK consists of extremely poorly paid drones in call centres almost anywhere in the world who probably don't work for the company you are ringing, have no idea what your issue is, and have no way of fixing it if they did!
In the so called bad old days you could actually speak to the people who could help you. But of course, these days, people tell you their name and ask you how you are, and pretend to be your friend so thats alright then.

The Visordown website has a list of the Top 10 maxi scooters - it puts the Integra at No10 and the TMax at No 1, so it can't be total crap. The Sym Maxsym 600 even appears half way up the list, which isn't bad for a scooter that hasn't been seen in the UK yet!!

I noticed that Grumpy. But can't wait to see some road tests on it.

Oh...in my earlier post, I'm referring to the motor trade re service etc. I've worked most of my life directly in it or associated to it in engineering. Those are area's that were particularly bad. But it's wholly different now, with the help of Taiwan of course... ;)

Yeah but all they've done is list 10 machines, they sure didn't test them, just made a list to fill a slow news day.

It's interesting to see how the Maxi-Scooter Market is regarded over there in the UK. Here in the States we have almost 10 times your population, a greater variance in the weather and even worse regional/political differences and a WORSE regard for the Maxi-Scooter...unless it's a CLV (Cute Little Vespa). Then, there are 24 Dealers on our WEST COAST ALONE.

Unless it's to be used strictly locally in town when the weather is nice, there seems to be no market for scooters here. TONS of VESPAS and GENUINE BUDDIES, along with Cheap Chinese Crap, are sold. Scooters are a Boutique Item for 20-something's to ride while getting clove cigarettes or going to hear an Indie Band, not "Real Transportation". That is some 6,000 pound+ SUV behemoth used to pick up your Lazy Children who won't walk home 1/4 mile in beautiful 70-degree weather.

Ah, those US priorities. It would ALL adjust if our GAS was actually priced in accordance with world market forces with an eye to actual Public Transport as a viable alternative. Instead, we (Prez. BUSH) gave TAX BREAKS to those who bought vehicles weighing OVER 6,000 pounds, as a give-back to our Dinosaur Auto Industry. That bought Hummer another 5 years of life, before IT went away...

Whole point is, I really ENJOY watching the interplay on this forum. The UK market is sort of what the US COULD be IF we had access to the wider range of vehicular transportation alternatives available to you, including Maxi-Scooters as viable alternatives to autos. Not mainland Europe Scooter-Crazy, but a middle ground...

I'm glad you said all that! What I don't get is the apparent fixation of bikers with Harleys over there. Now I do understand the former UK obsession with Sportsbikes, even if its crazy, but I don't understand cruisers that don't go very well and that try to look like they were designed 50 years ago. It obviously makes sense to some people.....

Has a former cruiser owner I can tell you. You can sit on them all day in fact they love long road trips. They are big and beefy so trucks and wind have little impact on them. People love them, strangers come up you in the street to talk about them and car drivers wave at you. Alas the older you get the more and more heavier they become, hence I love my scoot.

Thanks Spaceprobe

In my rather boring and mundane job, I get to ride more varieties of two wheels than anyone could ever shake a stick at! I have ridden the TT on an MV Agusta - only then to hand it over personally to an old Italian gentleman who apparently had won a few races there!

I ride bikes from all of our brands - SYM, LML, Royal Enfield, MV Agusta, Benelli, Keeway, Daelim, and we also have franchises for Kawasaki, Yamaha, Suzuki... I ride them too so I can talk about those comparisons as well.

I have ridden SYM's in China, nicer SYM's in Taiwan (different country  ), was at the launch of the first SYM GTS (Voyager) in the South of France, I have named several of the models of the SYM range, been to press launches for many SYM models, been involved at the clay model stage for many of them. I enjoyed the Joymax launch in Tel Aviv and had a great time comparing the MaxSym 400 with all of the Joymax configurations.

The only motorcycle style that I have not been 'testing' or involved with is the 'Harley' style, even though we have the Victory/Indian franchise - and our in house web designer owns one!

I find the disdain from one two wheel riding preference to another a little confusing - with the possible historical divide between Mods and Rockers!

We should concentrate on two wheels vs four - not squabble within the two wheel fraternity!

Anyway, mine is bigger than yours!

Cheers
SYMUK
