Apart from those Big pricy things from Bavaria, which were 647cc last time I looked (and those engines come from Taiwan as well!)!! Oh, and the Aprilia SRV which is 850cc approx....SYMUK wrote:Hi Mel
Yes it is correct at 565cc.
If I am correct, this will be the largest engined scooter in the UK other than from Japan - and even then only one of a very few!

Re: New Sym??
Didn't (or still do elsewhere in the world) SYM do a 600cc Quadbike? Is it the same Motor?
This won't be the biggest cc scooter in the UK. But the biggest single cylinder I believe. The closest is The 490cc single used in the Gilera Fuoco and Peugeot Satelis.

Re: New Sym??
Correct, the SYM QuadRaider 600 is a 4x4 powered by a 565cc Single with CVT, has been around for I think four years - so the engine is proven!

Re: New Sym??
Those scooters don't look half to bad especially that 600 with abs. Wonder what the hp is against the 400 majesty compared to the 400 sym. smeghead good to see another majesty rider looking at other scooters and hope you are ok with the storm you guys have had.

Re: New Sym??
stollie, you missed the info in earlier pages. SYMUK posted that the 600i is 45hp. That's against the 400i which is 33hp. Don't know what the Majesty is. I'm looking forward to seeing the 600i on test.
Probably not ugly enough for the 'Ugly Bunch'!

Re: New Sym??
2014 Sym MAXSYM 600i ABS
It's a shame that Maxi-scoots aren't more popular here in the UK, and it doesn't help when some 'journalists' at MCN portray Maxi-scoots with disdain (See http://www.maxi-muppets.co.uk/forum/vie ... =5&t=11048" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; and http://www.maxi-muppets.co.uk/forum/vie ... 20#p148920" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;). With the ever rising cost of fuel (currently averaging £1.33 per litre in the UK), the cost and inconvenience of finding somewhere to park and of course traffic congestion, motorcycles can be the fastest, cheapest and most convenient way to get from A to B. Maxi-scoots generally offer better weather protection, a more relaxed riding position and better storage space. There's also the convenience of an automatic - twist and go - and the 600cc 'class' of Maxi-scoots really do go!
I'm looking forward to seeing the MAXSYM 600i in 2014 - and all for the princely sum of £5999?
That's £400 less than the 400Z ABS Suzuki Burgman, £650 less than the Honda Silverwing 600, £2800 less than the 2013 Suzuki 650 Burgman and a whopping £3794 less than the BMW C650 GT. The MAXSYM also comes with a 3 year Manufacturer’s warranty.

Will it be a success in the UK? Well, it certainly has the potential. I envisage it will depend on how much 'assistance' SYM Taiwan offer MotoGB, and how much talent and money MotoGB can afford to spend on what could be a longer-term return. They can't just rely on the motorcycle ‘press’. They can be a fickle bunch. Some have had the luxury of test riding the best money can buy and at no expense to themselves - so I suspect that desensitises their value-for-money perspective. I'm aware that some motorcycle journalists are paid to be flown, all expenses paid, somewhere warm and sunny and put up in great hotels and treated very well. I'm guessing that helps to create a more positive outlook towards a particular brand.
On paper it's a great Maxi-scoot, but it needs to be seen in the metal! Get it out to potential buyers - let them see it in the 'flesh' and take a test ride!
Arrange with your dealers a rolling roadshow. Hire a Tranny, stick in a couple of 600i's - and a 400i for comparison - and take it around to all the dealers at prearranged dates.
Maybe you could hold a "Win a MAXSYM 600i for a year" competition? Hold a Raffle at each event to win the fuel cost to get there? Have a 'who's travelled the furthest' competition with the winner getting £100? Have T-shirts saying "SYM - Smile Your Miles!"? And don't forget the compulsory 'Burger Van' offering good value, good quality tea, coffee and er, burgers! Offset all the costs to the taxman!
The bottom line boils down to how far a potential customer is from a dealer. It's a question of perspective - I've had to make a 216 mile round trip to Exeter just to get a car 'serviced' at the 'nearest' dealer.
Like I say it is a long-term investment - there are no quick profits to be made - but they've potentially got a brilliant product that's great value and damn spiffing to look at! I'll admit I'm biased - I enjoy my SYM - I like the fact that it's quick and economical. It’s always been reliable and it starts and it stops when it should. It's well designed, well put together and very easy to self-service. If the MAXSYM 600i is as well made and reliable as my 5 year old Citycom 300i - it should be a great success!

There lies a complex issue not suited for this thread - for me - best route is to get the 'bum' on the seat!

Only £650 cheaper than a Silverwing?
Same problem as the Joymax then, too expensive.

Re: New Sym??
So why does that make it too expensive, it's a high quality machine for less than the Honda. Surely it's the Honda that's over priced.gn2 wrote:Only £650 cheaper than a Silverwing?
