According to the mock up of the cover of tomorrow's edition on the MCN website, the fabled maxi shootout article WILL be in tomorrow's edition!

They've Tweeted it and said elsewhere on the website, so it must be true.

Probably.

Its not THAT bad... the text is quite sensible. They love the TMax, are quite keen on the BMWs and big Burger, not impressed by the Aprilia and distinctly unimpressed by the Integra. Kind of thing one of us could have written!
They managed to get some surprisingly quick 0-60 times - 6.5secs on the TMax? And that was more or less the slowest! The 3.something from the BMW F800 is suspiciously fast as well....thats superbike pace.

horses for courses
I was hoping for a real world test not handing it over to a bike racer on a test track
0-60 0- 90 and top speed
and figure of eight turning ... gripping stuff
but I suppose we learnt that you can get 60 cans of lager under the seat

one thing did supprise me was the integra was second only to the aprillia in the 0-60 but then went on to be the slowest flat out

There's something very odd with those performance figures...the 0-60 times are too fast, but the top speeds are too low! Other tests have shown that even the slightly less powerful mk2 & mk3 could manage a real 105. With the mk4's outrageously optimistic speedo, I imagine it'll be reading something well over 125 when it reaches a genuine 100!

It's not that bad a review.

The guy performing it and reporting on it is the one who has a Burgman as his long term test bike. He rates it and uses te other scooters for the same trips he uses his Burgman for, commuting and leisure, urban and non-urban riding.

He rates the T Max best and likes the Honda least because it's more bike-flavoured than all the other scooters.

The comparison with the CB500R is because it looks to a bike-favouring onlooker that the bike will do the same job as most of these scooters but be cheaper and lighter. What he goes on to say is that it wouldn't. The scooters are generally better for the jobs he put them to.

However there's nothing you don't know already so if you haven't bought it, I wouldn't rush out in fear of missing out. :)
