Re: Exhaust Baffles
Is that true? I'm not sure there is a decibel limit (if there was how do Harley / Ducati riders and chavs in tuned cars not get pulled?). I suspect that the exhaust is legally homologated / type approved (whatever the correct legal procedure is) with the baffles in, thus removing them will make the exhaust illegal, even if it is quiet!. However, I'm not an expert, so I could be wrong. But I've seen several exhaust manufacturers who say that the product is legal with the baffles in, but for 'race only' without the baffles.Earl wrote:Removing the baffles is not rendering your bike illigal, it only becomes illegal if it exceeeds a certain decibel level.

That was a reply of mine on page one.Earl wrote:Without starting an argument how the hell do Harleys get away with their pipes then, I had a 2t pipe that was 10 decibels lower than a stock harley and was told it was illegal, go figure?????

Re: Exhaust Baffles
my burgman 400 with the reverse megga chaep silencer is SO loud it even pisses ME off! I feel my scoot should be quiet, for some reason. My honda foresight has a ginelli exhaust snd its very quiet.
My 2002 Bonneville, however, has triumph 'off road' pipes on and the noise suits it, and suits me.
Quiet harleys, with stock cans, just dont do it for me. My mate has a brand new £21k one and its got standard pipes on till first service.. all you can hear is the gear change! mind you, you'll still hear that with loud pipes on!
If i paid £21k for a bike, i'd not be happy with a gear change like a consrete mixer engaging drive.

Re: Exhaust Baffles
i can remember tmax9 saying once.... if you want to make it a little louder, drill a couple of holes around the exhaust end where the fumes come out, i suppose you have your baffles in place so legit, you could always reset the date on your digital camera and take photos of it, with date inprint on photo, as these were the photos i took just after i bought it...darrenandsarah wrote:Ok, you think what you want.....don't say you weren't warned.
I cant seem to remember.. I don't know where I'm going, but I'm on my way.
