This is a two part question ...
First what has happened to the KYMCO MYROAD 700i ... if it is still sold, where, is it successful in sales numbers etc ?
Second, does anyone know if there is any truth to the following rumours about the BMW C 650 GT and BMW C 600 Sport:
.... that the engines are based on the KYMCO MYROAD
.... that the engines are actually made by KYMCO
.... that the scooters are made by KYMCO and assembled in Germany by BMW

Thanks Bornagainbiker.
What I am wondering is the KYMCO MYROAD 700i sold anywhere else in the world ....... and what sales figure does it get ?
Maybe KYMCO has reached an agreement with BMW, not to market the MYROAD 700i and instead produce a reshaped/remodelled version under the guise of a BMW.
Under the BMW brand it would sell for more than under the KYMCO brand.

Re: KYMCO MYROAD 700i and BMW C 650 GT
Just read an article on Scooter station that the price of the Myroad in France is now only €8000 rather than €8200 previously, so its obviously on sale in France at least.SOOTYGULL wrote:This is a two part question ...

No idea of sales figures.
The BMW engines are definitely made by Kymco. The level of shared heritage between the Kymco and BMW engines is subject to debate, but I very much doubt that there are any real similarities.
How do you distinguish being 'made by' and 'assembled by' ???
The BMW scoots are assembled by BMW in Berlin, using components from a variety of factories, both their own and others. Obviously the engines will be delivered by Kymco. Obviously tyres, batteries, shocks and probably brakes will come from various well known brands, though of course, its not clear where they are all made!

According to this, Kymco sold 156 MyRoads in Italy during 2012, so not quite as many as the Tmax.....

Re: KYMCO MYROAD 700i and BMW C 650 GT
The Kymco 700i Myroad is one hell of a scooter. I know someone who has one and at the last conference I went to in France, they turned up on it having riden it from Germany. They love it and it's been 100% reliable and goes like a bat out of hell. I made enquiries about it with Kymco Uk but they have no plans to import it. I reckon they should change their minds on that as these big scoots are gaining ground all the time, everywhere. But it is a big investment to take in a new model. They have to factory train all the techs, take in the tools and spares packs etc etc. We can only hope it becomes available...if you like that sort of thing of course.
Probably not ugly enough for the 'Ugly Bunch'!
