It does have a sort of grip material to the underside and when securely tied with the velcro straps is stable. That said, the top outer covering is somewhat shiny as its made of a waterproof nylon type material which initially does feel slippery but you do get use to it.
Yesterday is history, tomorrow a mystery but today is a gift!

You can buy off cuts of memory foam on ebay if wifes handy with a sewing machine knock up a cover for it

I bought one of these gel seat pads some years ago, the one i got was held in place by a velcrow strip that was in turn connected to a strap that hooked over the seat on both sides. The one i had could be heated in a microwave, and fitted inside the cover, it was okay till the pad got cold , then you were sitting on a cold gel pad. I now still use the strap with the hooks but, i have a sheepskin with some velcrow on it, and this is much warmer. :)
